Meet the Real HORSEwives of Bravo (sorry, we’ll show ourselves out).
There aren’t many moments when we look at the lavish lifestyles of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and say, Housewives: they’re just like us. We have no experience flying on private jets, zero palatial mansions to our name and not even a single Lisa Rinna for QVC duster in our closet (not yet at least). Still there is one recurring thing all of us can relate to — horses.
Whether you would love to keep two mini ponies in your backyard à la Lisa Vanderpump, yelp “hooooooo hooooo” with fear as your horse galloped wildly à la Lisa Rinna or have allergies that cause you a horse-related panic attack à la Kyle Richards (this is where we fall sadly), there is something everyone can relate to.
Bravo and horse crossovers don’t just start and end with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, however. The Real Housewives of New Jersey were transformed by horse therapy, we watched as The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Robyn Dixon and Gizelle Bryant took their children horseback riding and we watched our favorite good time gals The Real Housewives of New York City betting on horses at the track. Heck, even Your Husband Is Cheating On Us’s Ginuwine’s biggest hit is the song Pony. There’s really something for everyone so strap on your jodhpurs and ride with us as we review all of Bravo's most accomplished equestrians!
Lisa is the OG Bravo horse-lover. From her love of riding to her miniature pony friends, Diamonds and Rosé, everything Lisa does brims with passion for all things equestrian.
Teddi may be the new girl on the scene in Beverly Hills but her love of riding made her fast friends with Lisa, and she also impressed her castmates with her ease around horses. A professional equestrian as a child, Teddi has shifted her passion to a serious hobby instead of a full career but still rides competitively.
Step aside, Tom Sandoval, Ariana’s one true love may be horses. She rides and competes with her horses IQ and Walter and always shows them lots of love.
Thomas has a commitment to polo that extends beyond just wearing Ralph Lauren tee shirts — he is an avid player and obviously a horse lover. He even owns his own personal polo field which must come in handy when sharing his love of horses with his children.
Bethenny has said that being raised around a racetrack helped inform her as a business woman, but it also informed her love of horses that she shared with her fellow housewives via a trip to the racetrack.
Before Teddi, was Yolanda as Lisa Vanderpump’s horse-riding chum but Yolanda has since moved on to greener pastures, quite literally, buying a farm where she can keep and ride horses whenever she wants.
The former housewife’s love of horses is almost as memorable as her trip to Scary Island. Kelly has said (of her passion for riding) that she loves the “athleticism and playfulness” of horses and is a frequent competitor in the Hamptons Classic.
Honorable Mention:
While this Summer House tenant isn’t a horse lover, per se, her commitment to polo players (and snagging a ride with them) deserves an honorable mention.
