Porsha: "I Was Really Upset with Each Person"

Porsha Williams talks Naked Lingerie, Lauren's pregnancy, and how she won't let the haters bring down her relationship.

By Porsha Williams

Bravotv.com: What’s it been like building your hair and lingerie business?
Porsha Williams: Building Naked Lingerie has really been amazing. Getting to where we are right now, I never would have dreamt it would really be exactly what I wanted. It took a lot of time to find the right vendor, to have a quality products that I was going to send out to people, and I’m just super happy about how the line has turned out. It has taken blood sweat and tears. My baby sister Lauren has been my right hand, and now you know she’s expecting. So we had our ups and downs as far as me filling in and doing what I needed to do to cover and preparing for her to leave the company while she’s having her baby; it has been a big deal. But she and I have put so much into this, I’ve put a lot of money into Naked Lingerie, so it has to be successful and at this point. I’m so pleased with the line and I’m so excited to share each piece with everybody. Each piece was handpicked by me, and I really make sure that each piece is specific to a different body type. I developed this line after a break up, and it was me wanting to feel sexy about myself again and wanting to just express myself and just feel good about myself. So during that time I went up and down in weight; I was like twenty pounds over my regular weight, then I went down again. Well, when you’re up, you don’t wear the same thing as when you’re down. Thus I definitely designed the line to really accentuate the curves and hide the little things that women don’t really want to show when you’re wearing lingerie even though you’re almost naked. You want to show the parts that are very sexy. The nightgowns are a little bit longer in the back than they are in the front, the corsets come down a bit lower to cover up some of the love handles. And since I have new girls, Coco and Chanel, they go up in size from big breasts to little breasts, we carry plus sizes, we just have something for everybody. We’ve been preparing for a big photo shoot we’re having, and for the photo shoot I decided to choose regular women, regular business women in Atlanta who don’t normally model. But I have decided to put them into the photo shoot and have them wear the clothes. That way when people visit the website, you’ll see yourself. You can see that this woman is my body type, and she’s wearing this piece. I’m just super excited about the line. It’s sexy, it’s elegant, and it’s just fun. They’re lingerie pieces that you don’t have to wear with a man, you can wear it at home by yourself and be just as satisfied.

Bravotv.com: Were you surprised your business partners weren't supportive of you dating?
PW: You know what, I have to say I was surprised. Because again, I feel like when I’m in a relationship, I’m at my best. I’ve always said, once I get my business in order, everything is good. If your personal life is good and you have a solid support system at home, you can go conquer the world. So, I really didn’t understand what they were saying. I think they were coming from a place of what would happen if I break up with that individual, and that could possibly be true.

Bravotv.com: What was going through your mind when your sister told you she was pregnant?
Oh my god. I was in shock. Because I had noticed little things, for instance we used to meet a couple times a week. Well, that had turned into once a week, then it had turned into just phone calls, and I felt like she was trying to hide something. But of course she was just trying to hide that her stomach was getting bigger. And she would be tired, she would have headaches. Just experiencing everything someone would experience in their first trimester. I had asked her about it and she just would always throw it off, "No, no, no it’s nothing like that. I’m busy, I’m working, I’m running the company." So when I finally found out that she was pregnant, I was like, "It all makes sense!" It just made sense. And like I revealed on the show, there was a part of me that was like, "I’m supposed to be pregnant!" That's something that I talk about all the time, how I want to be a mom. Of course I’m happy for her, but I look forward to the day that I’ll be pregnant too.

Bravotv.com: Were you shocked to hear everyone commenting on the rumors about Duke?
PW: I was shocked as hell. Honestly, I didn’t know all that gossiping was going on. Later when I found out, I was pissed. I was really upset because, as you can see, I put a lot into that freaking party. I felt like I had prepped everybody, I had pulled all my friends to the side and told everybody, "This party’s for Duke, I’m so excited. We’re going to send him off, he’s going to go and kill it this season. I want him to feel love and support." And later on when I see all this negative energy was in his party, I was really upset with each person, and I had to talk to each individual about how I felt.
