Ripping the Runway
Cynthia shares what it's like to work with Miss Jay.
Welcome back, everyone! I'm sure you missed me as much as I missed you. Wow! Where do I start? So much has happened since last year! First, let me just say thank you to everyone who showed me so much love and support. It meant more to me than you will ever know. You helped give me strength and courage when I needed it the most. I am forever grateful. I believe that God puts all kinds of challenges and obstacles in our life to force us to grow and be fearless. As his children, we owe it to ourselves to be great and find happiness. I think we all are guilty of taking things for granted when life shows us favor, but it is truly those hard and trying times when we are the most humbled. As a daughter, a sister, a mother, a friend, and now as a wife, I strive daily to be better. I try hard to be the best Cynthia that I can be, and I'm good with that.
OK, let's go! Well, the last time you guys saw me I was getting married to my now husband, Peter Thomas. Despite the naysayers, I am excited to report that Peter and I have been happily married for a little over a year now. Even though my man still has his "Mr. Grumps" moments and I am still very set in my ways, we are very much together. The thing I enjoy the most about being married is the partnership of being a team. Even though we don't always agree on everything, we have each other's backs. I am not afraid to soar and I'm not afraid to fall. I just love that I have someone to catch me when I do. Thank you, baby, for always pushing me to go for it and dream big. You see me so much bigger than I see myself. With you by my side, I know that anything is possible.
Enter (drum roll please!) THE BAILEY AGENCY SCHOOL OF FASHION! Can you believe it? I am opening up my very own modeling school. Yay! This is a huge business venture for me, and I have so much work to do. Imagine me running around testing paint colors for the walls, hooking up phone lines, and putting together curriculums when I get a call from long-time friend Miss Jay from America's Next Top Model! Jay and I met years ago in Paris when I was first starting out as a young model, and even then he was fabulous and famous for ripping the runway. As luck would have it, he was in Atlanta from Paris for a couple of days and wanted to stop by the school to teach my very first runway class! This is crazy! I'm not officially open yet, and I don't have any models! So I do a quick, fast, and hurried open call to potential students. I had to take advantage of this opportunity, and I made it happen. The turnout was awesome and we had so much fun. Thank you and merci, Miss Jay, for your wise words, fierceness, and legendary runway walk. I appreciate your friendship and support. The students were honored that they got to meet you and work with you. You are everything!
I have been modeling for the past twenty-five years, and this is my first business. I am CEO, and I call all the shots! So proud of myself. This is my new baby, and I'm going to give it everything it needs to grow to be big and strong. Opening The Bailey Agency School of Fashion is my way of giving back to the community, as well as inspiring and educating future supermodels. Even though I still have a great modeling career, I know that I can't do it forever. Starting a fashion school is a natural transition from being a model, and it just makes sense. Being a model may look like an easy job, but there are a lot of factors that can make or break a model in the making. You will get the proper guidance, motivation, and education from my classes. All can benefit, because it's all about dream building and positivity. I'm excited to find the world's next supermodel! The Bailey Agency School of Fashion going to do big things! This is just the beginning.
Fat hugs and kisses,
Cynthia
