The Peacemaker
DeShawn Snow gives some background info, and blogs about Sheree's party.
First of all, I just want to say that I am so excited to be a part of the wildly successful Real Housewives franchise! I am even more excited about the opportunity to write to you each week, providing a fresh perspective. On the show, I would say that I am the peacemaker. I don't play both sides of the fence. I am cool with everyone. You can get to know more about me and my passions at www.deshawnsnowfoundation.org and www.deshawnsnow.com.
I met my husband our freshman year at MSU. (Go Spartans!) We started dating February 1992 and got married in 1997. We have three beautiful boys, ages 9,6, and 5. I always find it amusing when I hear people say that I "married money."
Eric and I had no clue what God had in store for us! Eric wasn't the superstar in college - in fact, we weren't even sure he would make it to the NBA. I would drive him and his teammates around campus in my Geo Metro (those were the days)! And when he did go to the NBA, he didn't even get to play. But he became a student of the game and learned from the best. He was finally given his big start three years later in Philadelphia.
Now on to the first episode.
In 2006 we purchased a beautiful piece of land in a neighboring community. This was the start of a dream project! We got with an architect and developed custom plans to suit our family and lifestyle. This process took about six months. Finally construction was underway.
During the time of construction, I was living in Ohio managing the home, taking care of our boys, and supporting my husband's career. Simultaneously, I was commuting back and forth to Atlanta to run my real estate company. Eric and I decided to hire interior designers to help with the home building process. The same service I had provided to Eric with the 10+ homes we have bought and sold throughout his career, and for my VIP real estate clients, I was finally able to experience for myself. I had someone to take care of everything for me and manage the process--all I had to do is just walk in (and of course, make the final decisions). This was definitely a blessing for us.
As you saw on the show, I was waiting until Eric was in town to see our fully furnished home for the very first time. It was definitely challenging to not sneak a peak into the home during the full week that the designers were there (the boys and I were renting a house in the same community.) We were pleasantly surprised! Our designer, Lori Halprin (Envisions) had definitely done a fabulous job. It was actually quite overwhelming for us...to see how God had covered us in His grace and mercy.
Once settled in our home, the process of finding a staff to assist me was first on my to-do list. God has provided us with this incredible blessing to be able to focus our time solely on our family and our community. It would be impossible to do all that I need to do without any assistance in the home. While traveling (as we often have to do), it is imperative that I have proper care for my boys in my absence.
Sheree's party was fabulous. I do not think that she left NeNe name off the guest list intentionally. I don't think she had anything to do with it - I believe it was an honest mistake. At the same time, I can understand NeNe's frustration at the door. I think if Sheree had come out personally to welcome her, it would have been different.
Will they or will they NOT make up?I guess we will need to watch and see what happens!
Until next time!
