This Is How Meghan Markle Made Herself a Fast Favorite of William and Kate's Kids
Meghan Markle used the oldest trick in the book to win favor with George and Charlotte.
By now we know that the suspiciously chill kids pictured in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal wedding photos were so cooperative because the photographer bribed them with candy. Plying kids with delicious food is a well-known tactic that works wonders among royals and mere commoners alike — and one that Meghan is said to have worked right off the bat in order to get the royal kids, George and Charlotte, to take to her.
"An avid cook, Meghan often pops around to visit with Kate and the kids dropping off treats," a royal source told ET earlier this year. (Hat tip to the Mirror for resurfacing the comments.)
Indeed, we have long known that Meghan loves cooking — and has an aptitude for it — as she used to chronicle such pursuits regularly on her former blog, The Tig. And fun fact: She was going to build her own lollipop business before her life abruptly, uh, changed course.
One of her favorite recipes a courgette pasta sauce she described as "filthy, sexy" to Delish before she became a royal — so perhaps she worked that into her offerings for the kids (although, using more G-rated words to describe it to them, we might imagine).
Meghan told Delish, "The sauce gets so creamy, you'd swear there's tons of butter and oil in it, but it's just zucchini, water, and a little bouillon." Healthy, and kid friendly!
Add in for the wee ones a little lemon-elderflower cake for dessert, topped off with some Smarties in exchange for a few photos — and you've got friendships for life in the making.
