Oreo Just Upped the Trick-or-Treating Game for Halloween This Year
Oreo caps off a year of wild flavors with a new fun-sized treat for Halloween.
Oreo got into the candy business two years ago with Oreo Chocolate Candy Bars, but it's now available in fun-size packaging just for Halloween. That may not be as unexpected as the news that Oreo has introduced Hot Chicken Wing and Wasabi flavors to its cookie sandwich lineup in China. But it should still shake up Halloween trick-or-treat bowls everywhere this year.
It's been a crazy year for new Oreo flavor announcements. The cookie sandwich giant announced Pistachio Oreo Thins, Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Oreos, Rocky Road Trip Oreos, Strawberry Shortcake Oreos, Peppermint Bark Oreos, and Mickey Mouse Oreos at the Sweets and Snacks Expo in Chicago in June, and crowned Cherry Cola the winner of a contentious flavor contest in August.
In related news, you might be seeing more of this classic American treat this holiday because Dunkin' Donuts — soon to just be "Dunkin'" — also announced a new Halloween-themed Oreo Donut this week. The buttercream-filled sinker is topped with chocolate icing, Oreo bits, and drizzles of orange icing.
