Meghan Markle Got Her First Official Royal Gift — And We Have Some Questions About It
Hint: It's for the kitchen, where Prince Harry proposed.
Prince Harry famously proposed to Meghan Markle in the kitchen while they were cooking dinner together — and that fact alone surely lends extra significance and sweetness to that room and that shared activity. So that explains her first official royal gift, perhaps — but it nevertheless seems a bit... dubious.
People revealed that the first gift Meghan received since her engagement became official is an apron, gifted to her through Prince Harry's brother Prince William from an unknown person during a royal visit to Finland.
The gift might have been an actual sweet gesture referencing the way they got engaged, but why not give Prince Harry an apron as well? After all, according to his brother, he loves to spend time in the kitchen. Surely that would have at least been a chance to diffuse any potential anti-feminist messages conveyed in the choice.
"I hope it means he stays out of my fridge and will stop him scrounging my food, which he's done for the last few years," William joked about Harry's engagement to reporters during that Finland trip.
So, you know — thanks? But also... huh.
