We Finally Know What Meghan Markle's 38th Birthday Cake Looked Like
Meghan Markle celebrated her 38th birthday on August 4.
Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle turned 38 years old on August 4, her first birthday as a mom. The Duchess feted the occasion with a "family day" at home, according to Bazaar — and yes, there was cake.
We now know exactly what that confection looked like — and who baked it — thanks to royal correspondent Omid Scobie, who tweeted an image on August 9. "Thanks so much to Alice Williams and the awesome team at @LuminaryBakery in London for letting us join them last weekend as they created Duchess Meghan’s beautiful carrot birthday cake."
The dessert is iced in the "naked" style, revealing cake through thin white icing on its sides. On top, spiced orange wedges and rosemary springs surround the message, "Happy Birthday Meghan."
Scobie continued tweeting about the bakery's mission: "@LuminaryBakery
’s dedication to helping women from disadvantaged backgrounds get their lives back on track is impressive. And the social enterprise (one of Meghan’s #ForcesForChange) is growing fast — they announced a cookbook today and have a second location opening soon!"
If you're keeping score at home, Luminary is not the same bakery that baked the Meghan and Prince Harry's royal wedding cake — that would be California-bred baker Claire Ptak of Violet Cakes London, which the Duchess had written about on her lifestyle blog, The Tig, before she became a royal.
