You’ll Never Believe Crazy Eyes' Crazy Hidden Talent
Orange Is the New Black star Uzo Aduba is more than a record-breaking actress.
Uzo Aduba is a known record-breaker. The Orange Is the New Black actress, who plays Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren, is the first woman to win two Emmys in both drama and comedy categories for the same role.
What you may not have known about Uzo though, is that she is a formidable vocalist with the creativity to create an entirely new musical genre: Opera freestyle, which she demonstrated during an interview on SiriusXM's Sway in the Morning.
Freestyling is typically the domain of select rappers who are skilled enough to theoretically form rhymes off the top of their head (they're often written down or typed into a cellphone in an accepted form of cheating). But Uzo, who is imbued with hip-hop knowledge and classic operatic training (which she's demonstrated on talk shows like The View), is the first to meld the two into something fresh.
Uzo would be a great candidate to return to Sway in the Morning for the program's popular "Five Fingers of Death" segment, where guests are asked to freestyle to five different beats that switch up at random. While Shia LeBoeuf was the first actor to successfully complete the "Five Fingers" challenge, Uzo could set another record for the ladies. It'd be something to take fans' minds off the fate of the Orange Is the New Black characters after the uncertainty of the Season 5 finale (though Netflix has the series for at least two more seasons.
