Why Lisa Vanderpump Keeps Returning to RHOBH (and One Time She Almost Didn't)
However, the veteran Housewife admitted, "There have been moments when I said, 'I can't do this anymore.'"
Housewives may come and go, but there are a few OG 'Wives who stand the test of time and return to Bravo faithfully every season. Lisa Vanderpump is one of those veteran Bravolebrities. However, it's not to say that she hasn't had moments of doubt every now and then about returning to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. According to Lisa, there were some seasons even Andy Cohen wasn't sure if Lisa would want to return to the franchise. When the "Queen of Diamonds" stopped by The Daily Dish podcast, she shared with hosts Megan Segura and Rachael Roberts what keeps her coming back every season and after which seasons she almost didn't return.
While her plate is overflowing these days with running a magazine, opening restaurants and championing charities, Lisa said her feelings around not returning rarely have to do with being overbooked and too busy, except for Season 8. "It's not because of being too busy," she explained on the podcast. "[However], this year we had a long talk about that because I am very busy."
She went on to say, "I've also had moments that have been emotionally driven in my decision of not wanting to come back." Those moments of "emotionally driven" indecision have been visible to those around her as well. "I mean, Andy said to me at the Season 5 [reunion], 'I didn't think you'd come back.'" And according to Lisa, he was right, "I really, really did not want to, but my relationship with Kyle has pretty much remained strong, and so that's a big part of it."
Lisa's friendship with fellow Beverly Hills OG Kyle Richards is a big incentive, but her growing relationships with the RHOBH production company Evolution and Bravo itself have also made it easier to return. "If I've kind of shown any doubt, [Evolution has] kind of, you know, said, 'Come on, Lisa. You know, you've been on since the beginning. Don't walk away, don't,'" Lisa said. "And I've come back to it, and I've never regretted coming back."
Bravo's support in portraying relevant issues and highlighting charitable and worthy causes has given Lisa a platform to spread awareness. "I have an unbelievable relationship with Bravo," she shared. "We cannot forget that and how generous they've been in their kind of portrayal of some things that are very close to my heart."
