Is Whoopi Goldberg Holding Back on The View?
"You don't want to really hear me speak more," Goldberg explained.
Whoopi Goldberg is always calm, cool, and collected on The View, which is more than we can say for some of her fellow co-hosts at times. Even when the debates get heated, Goldberg still somehow manages to maintain her composure.
Some even wonder if Goldberg is sometimes actually intentionally stopping herself from saying what she really thinks on The View. One caller wanted to know just that when Goldberg appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Tuesday night. "Well, I know you probably do, but you don't want to really hear me speak more and know how much it's gonna cost me if I say a word you shouldn't say," she explained. "No, I don't hold my tongue; I just don't curse anybody out."
The View actually needs someone like Goldberg, according to her fellow WWHL guest Julianne Moore. "I think she's the voice of reason on the show," she said. "You go on, and you know you can rely on her to be smart and respectful."
Goldberg's restraint also applies when guests appear on The View, about whom she might have some strong opinions. "You can't scream at people when you meet them in the face," she said, recalling the time she met Sarah Palin on The View on the WWHL After Show. "You know, it's not hard for me. I didn't come from doing this initially, so I'm sort of raised to be polite. So even if it's somebody I don't necessarily like, my mother, I can hear her saying, 'Now look, say something nice and walk on.' So I say, 'Nice to meet you. Bye!' And I walk."
