Here's What You Need To Know About SWV's LeLee Lyon's Rapper Son
Leanne "Lelee" Lyons is not only a star in SWV & XSCAPE: The Queens of R&B: She also has a son with music in his veins, a rapper known as "Khi Shine."
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree when it comes to some of the ladies on SWV & XSCAPE: The Queens of R&B and their children. Music runs in the veins of Leanne “Lelee” Lyons of Sisters With Voices (SWV) as well as those of her son Khiry, who has released his own music as a rapper.
Although SWV is more known as an R&B group, Lelee told The Jasmine Brand the group has always had a hip hop slant.
“The way we dressed, from the baggy clothes to the door knocker earrings, that’s how a lot of girls dressed in New York,” she said. “Hip hop is a culture, not just about rap music. I’m so attached to the culture.”
It’s a culture she’s passed down to Khiry, known also as the rapper Khi Shine.
He released one song called “Oochie” in November 2020, and released more songs on Apple Music in early 2022, including, “Gametime,” “Boyfriend,” and “Chances.”
“Oochie” also has an accompanying music video on Khi Shine’s YouTube page.
Lelee was a mother of two by the age of 17 and described the difficulties of being a teen mom on SWV & XSCAPE: The Queens of R&B.
“I knew I wanted to be a singer at about age 11 watching Star Search, but I got pregnant at 15,” Lelee said during the show. “Back then you couldn’t work full-time at 15, so I had to get two part-time jobs. At night, my mom would babysit my daughter and I would go in the studio and record with the girls. And back then we were working on our demo.”
She told The Jasmine Brand in 2020 she was happy her children identified their gifts and are actively pursuing their dreams. (She also has a daughter, Margaret.)

“You gotta be passionate about what you do, not for money, not for fame,” Lelee said. “The passion has to drive you.”
In January 2023, Khi Shine teased his passion — new music — is on the way in a TikTok video, with the caption, “Something for the girls in the summer.” On that social media platform, he has nearly 6,000 followers.
He’s also passing the family birthright of music down to his daughter, Braelynn, who frequently appears in TikTok videos and dances with him.
