Who is Cynthia Bailey's Friend Tammy McCall Browning?
There's a lot more to this pal than what we see on #RHOA.
Tammy McCall Browning may be new to The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but she has definitely made a splash this season. Cynthia Bailey first introduced her castmates to her friend during the Boat Ride from Hell, and they seem to be struggling to take a liking to her during their current girls' trip to Miami. That's especially the case for Sheree Whitfield, who accused Tammy of being more than just friends with her ex-husband Bob Whitfield after hearing that she had been throwing shade at the RHOA mom.
Now that Tammy's nephew has joined the party, it looks like things are going to continue to heat up in Miami. We saw a bit of a confrontation between him and Kenya Moore last week, and he and Kandi Burruss will share a tense moment in Sunday night's upcoming episode. So does Tammy just like to stir the pot, or is there a more lovable part to her that the RHOA ladies just aren't seeing? Get to know Tammy beyond what we see on RHOA, below.
1. She's a Dancer
It was briefly mentioned on RHOA that Tammy was a ballerina. She has trained with various companies around the country and as a student at Spelman College. Tammy took a 20-year break to raise her son, but she is now dancing again with Good Moves' off-season professional ensemble Moving On. If the above photo is any indication, Tammy has clearly still got it.
2. She's an Entrepreneur
Tammy runs her own costume rental company called Planet Freedom, which sells clothing from various eras and in all different kinds of styles. She even got America's Next Top Model Cycle 21 contestant Adam Smith to help her show off her handmade Freiheit harness bags. Perhaps the RHOA ladies will be rocking those next.
3. She Loves Vintage Clothing
Fashion isn't just what Tammy does for a living; it's her passion. She is a vintage clothing collector, according to her Instagram bio, and you'll see her prove that statement in a bunch of her pics. We may see Tammy wear contemporary fashions on RHOA, but it looks like she is really an old soul.
4. Her Husband is Kind of a Big Deal
Though Tammy may not have done the best job of introducing her husband John Browning to the RHOA cast members when she described his complexion as "Nazi white," they seemed to get a much better impression of him when he briefly met the ladies at the airport on their way to Miami during last week's episode. In fact, Tammy's husband is really no slouch. John is the head coach of the men's tennis team at Emory University in Atlanta. He has helped lead the team to three national championships in 2003, 2006, and 2012. Yeah, Tammy probably should have led with that.
5. Her Son Has Big Music Dreams
When Tammy mentioned that she wanted her son, who was born during a previous relationship, to get into the studio with Kandi, it kind of rubbed the RHOA 'Wives the wrong way because they had only just met her. However, Tammy was doing her job as the self-proclaimed momager of her son Freedom Augmon, a.k.a. Freco, who is trying to get his hip-hop career off the ground. You can listen to some of his tracks over on his Soundcloud profile, or watch the video of the single Tammy was talking about on RHOA, above.
6. Her Nephew Was in the NBA
Tammy's newphew who's causing some tension in Miami is Glen Rice Jr., who played in the NBA for the Washington Wizards.
7. She Gives Back
Tammy also spends her free time volunteering for the Open Door Community, a residential community in Atlanta that offers services like free meals, showers, and access to a medical clinic to those in need. You can't help but have your heart warmed by Tammy's enthusiasm for giving back.
Tammy has already been through a lot in Miami, but there's only going to be more drama where that came from. See what you can expect from the upcoming episode airing on Sunday, December 20 at 8/7c in the clip, below.
