Here's How Sutton Stracke's Kids Reacted to Seeing Her on RHOBH: "Savage"
The RHOBH cast member opened up about her life at home with her three kids.
Sutton Stracke isn't just a fashionista and boutique owner, she's also a proud mom to three kids: daughter Porter Stracke and sons Philip Stracke and James Stracke.
In 2020, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mom spoke to The Daily Dish to shed more light on her relationship with her three children.
What do Sutton Stracke’s children think of her on TV?
Here’s what Sutton had to say about how her kids reacted to seeing her on TV: “You know, it’s funny. The first episode I didn’t watch with them. And then my daughter came to me the next day and says, 'Oh, I watched it on YouTube.' So I thought, well, OK, if they’re gonna watch it, then let’s just watch it together."
"So, we watched it together last week," she added. "And my son was like, 'Mommy, you’re savage. Why are you so savage?'" she recalled to The Daily Dish with a laugh. "I’m like, 'I wasn’t meaning to be.'"
"They were laughing — they enjoyed it," she explained. "But then the minute somebody said something about me, my son kind of perked up and said, 'Are they being mean to you?' He was serious, I’m like, 'it’s OK, settle down. We’re all good. That’s what we do.'"
Some viewers might be wondering if RHOBH is giving her kids another view of their mama, or if they're used to seeing her sassy side.
"You get told be yourself, but you kind of get to be yourself on steroids a little bit," she said. "I don’t keep a lot of thoughts to myself and honestly, I’ve been saying this, do not ask me a question unless you want the answer. Don’t ask me, or say I’m gonna ask you this, but I really want you to tell me what I need to hear. If you’re asking me the question, and you really want to know what I think, I’m gonna tell you."
"I can’t flip it, unless you say to me, 'I really don’t [want to] know what you think. I really want you to tell me that I look amazing.' Then I’ll tell you, 'You look amazing," she added. "You know, don’t ask me. So, I think that I’m myself, it’s just bigger. And it’s kind of scary. I don’t mean to be. And I also think my sense of humor, I’m a bit sarcastic. And that people sometimes don’t understand that. And I’m realizing that."
Sutton Stracke's Pets
By the way, in addition to her three kids, she's also a mama to her many, many pets.
"I don’t know why people are such cat haters. I have four dogs and two cats," she said. "My cats, they’re the best cats in the world. They’re so social. So, they want to, if there is somebody in the room, they want to come check it out. They want to be with me. They want to like monitor; my cats almost act like dogs. They sit with us. Like they’re not afraid of the dogs. They’re not skittish. They want to be your friend. They’re seriously the coolest cats ever."
She adopted a new puppy in the summer of 2023, who she named JuneBug Carter Cash.
How did Sutton Stracke adjust to Porter Stracke and Phillip Stracke being at college?
In 2022, Sutton shared on Instagram that she officially had two kids in college. At the time, Porter was a student at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and Philip was a new freshman at The Citadel.
“I have now successfully taken two children to college, ” she captioned an August 2022 photo taken in front of The Jefferson Hotel in Virginia. “One to Charleston and the other to Virginia.”
Sutton went on to shout out her youngest son, concluding, “Now it’s just James.”
Prior to that, Sutton had opened up about how moving Philip to college would be entirely different from her experience with Porter. “After Philip graduates from high school, he's going to The Citadel, which is actually a military school," she said in an interview during Season 12, Episode 13 of RHOBH. "I think the good news is I don't have to decorate his room. It's not like a Porter situation. There's no like curtains and, you know, any of that stuff. I think you have to like bounce a quarter off your bed."
What is James Stracke doing?
Sutton's youngest son, James Stracke, started high school in 2021. He still lives with his parents.
Who is Christian Stracke?
Christian Stracke is Sutton's ex-husband. The two were childhood friends before marrying in 2000 in New York City.
“When my ex-husband and I got married, we were on equal footing,” she explained in the Season 13 premiere of RHOBH. Sutton noted that she stopped working after she got pregnant with her first child.
“My power diminished,” she said. “This became here’s your allowance.”
The couple divorced in 2016.
Sutton’s main goal now is her to build herself up and show her kids that “financial autonomy is liberating.” She is still receiving spousal support from her ex-husband, as she noted in the episode.
