Australian soap opera, Neighbours, has been the launching pad for some very successful folks (Kyle Minogue, Liam Hemsworth and Guy Pearce, to name a few), but no one who has breezed through the show has likely understood the nuances of drama quite like Gina Liano.
The Real Housewives of Melbourne star will stop by the beloved series on Tuesday (June 30), as the show continues to celebrate 30 years on the air.
For those interested in the specifics, Gina is slated to play the adoptive mother of Olympia Valance’s character Paige. It marks her first real foray into the acting world. “I play Mary Smith and I’ve been in Singapore and decided I needed to reconnect with her so I turn up out of the blue,” she told the Daily Telegraph about the buzzy appearance. “And she doesn’t love it at all. She’s a bit of a rebellious child.’"
Lucky for everyone, a preview clip tease some major drama.
If you want more Mary Smith in your life, there's a chance Gina could return to the show in the future. “They didn’t write me out of the script and the last episode I’m in it’s sort of open-ended and I think they’ve done that deliberately because the character herself, she’s a significant part of a main character’s life," she teased. “Unless they set me up to die in a plane crash or car accident or we have a serious falling out, which hasn’t happened to date, then there’s provision for me to come back, and I suspect I will get an invitation back if there’s wedding bells or anything significant happens in her life."
