The Daily Dish Life After Bravo

Where Is Hindrigo "Kiko" Lorran from Below Deck Mediterranean Now?

After getting fired by Captain Sandy Yawn in Season 5, the Brazilian-born chef is still cooking.

Over the past eight seasons of Below Deck Mediterranean, there have been many memorable crew members and chefs manning the galley, including Season 5 chef, Hindrigo "Kiko" Lorran.

How to Watch

The Brazilian-born chef was known on the show for his charming personality, spontaneous ways, ability to speak three different languages, and adventurous cooking skills — including the time he cooked 72 dishes from around the world. But, that didn't keep him on the show for too long. Kiko was fired in the middle of a charter during Season 5, Episode 10 after cooking up a lackluster Las Vegas-inspired meal that had Captain Sandy Yawn up in arms.

But, Kiko wasn't going to let this minor defeat bring him down.

"I think I left with a good impression," Kiko said during his final episode. "Food is love for me. It's not just technique or anything like that...I was proud of myself."

After leaving the ship in Episode 10, Kiko said that he was looking forward to his life on land and what he was going to do next, after Below Deck. "I'm gonna get my board and go surf. Eat good food. Cook for my friends."

Read on to learn what he has been up to since then.

Where is Kiko Lorran from the Below Deck franchise now?

Since Below Deck Med Season 5 aired in 2020, Chef Kiko has been making himself busy on both land and sea, doing exactly what he predicted in his final episode. The chef has continued to cook on yachts, travel the world, surf, and (of course) eat good food.

Kiko, according to his Instagram bio, is "a chef cooking around the world." His account, (which was last updated in June 2023), shows him surfing waves in Bali, eating croissants in France (during a day off from his charter), and cooking in Genova, Italy.

And, if there is anything that you can count on Kiko to do it's to travel with his long-time partner, Nicole Skwara, to gorgeous locations while occasionally manning the kitchen.

In an August 2020 interview with DeciderKiko said that Nicole also works in yachting, sometimes alongside him. "Seeing the world with my girlfriend, it's just a dream," he said.

But Kiko's life isn't just about where he is going next. The Below Deck Med alum has his own digital cookbook, The Surfer's Cookbook, which is available to download on Amazon right now, and is on Cameo, in case you want to send a special shoutout to your Below Deck obsessed friend.

Does Kiko Lorran regret his time on Below Deck Med?

Although he was fired by Captain Sandy, Kiko told Decider that he has no regrets from his time aboard The Wellington. "I don't have anything against her as a person," he said. "I just think it was a work moment. And that's it. What is bad, we left behind. Everything's going so well for me. I don't regret anything. The show was amazing."

Although Kiko told Decider that he wishes that people hadn't seen his mistakes on camera, he's happy that viewers saw the good things on the show and all that comes with Kiko. "That's what I have to say to the world," he said. "Man, just love each other. Love the people in front of you. Do good things to have a better world."
