Where is Below Deck's Chris Brown Now?
His new career is a big departure from yachting.
This season of Below Deck, audiences have frequently seen Captain Lee Rosbach warn Valor's crew about big changes in staffing on the horizon. To the unsuspecting viewer, those seemingly ended with the addition of new bosun, E.J. Jansen. However, in true Captain Lee fashion, change isn't over until he says it's over and in Episode 6, he sent home deckhand Chris Brown. The nap-taking, tequila-drinking, goofy-but-lovable Chris shared his feelings about his departure this week on After Deck with Kate Chastain and gave some updates on what he's been up to since he left the boat in St. Barths.
Kate asked Chris if there was anything he would have done differently. Overall, Chris feels the cards were stacked against him, "I don't think I was given the tools to succeed and I just kind of ended up taking the fall for you know a couple other, a lot of other, shortcomings on the boat." He wishes he could change how he had taken the blame for these issues. He admitted, however, that napping during his shift probably wasn't ideal.
Chris admitted there were other things he would change about himself, given the chance to relive his Below Deck experience. "I talk about myself so much. It's a quality I'm really trying to work on these days and focus on the other person." He explained this translated also into talking to women, and that he wanted to be less "creepy and weird" around them. Chris said his dad also had some notes for him on this topic, "My dad says my game sucks. When you're dad tells you you're bad with women, and you're 28, and you're single, nobody feels good after that."
Now a little bit older and wiser, will Chris Brown return to the high seas and life of yachting in the future? It's not likely. Chris found his yachting career not unlike a toxic relationship. "It's like having a girlfriend who cheats on you and breaks your heart. That was my first time in yachting," he said. "And then she changed a little bit and seemed cool, so she invited me back in her life, and then she cheated on me and broke my heart again." He told Kate, "It's not cool for me, and that's fine."
So what happened to Chris Brown after his departure from Valor? Chris spent some time traveling around the world and at one point even found himself sleeping in a crew mess once again on a boat he traveled on to Panama City. He also visited 7 countries and 3 continents.
As far as his career goes, fans may be excited to know they may be able to experience the real Chris Brown hospitality experience in Las Vegas soon. "I just got a really good job at the Palazzo and I'm stoked about the opportunity I got." Chris will be a server at the famed Las Vegas hotel and looks forward to being able to entertain people in a role where he feels confident in his skills. "I'm the best server on the planet."
As far as who else Chris keeps in touch with, he revealed in a separate interview with Bravotv.com: "I've briefly exchanged messages with Bri and Matt, but that's it. Kate's dope." He's also hoping to get involved with volunteer work for natural disaster relief.
