What's Next for Kristen Doute After Getting Canned?
The former SUR staffer dishes on that final shift—and her focus on the future.
Some would say they never thought the day would come, but come it did last night on Vanderpump Rules, as longtime server Kristen Doute was given the pink slip by Lisa Vanderpump.
After seven years with SUR, Kristen's shenanigans with Miami Girl and disrespect to management put Lisa Vanderpump over the edge—and she was told ultimately that her days were done at the West Hollywood hotspot.
Hoping to simply clock in and get on with her shift, Kristen quickly realized it wasn't business as usual. "I had this weird feeling and I happened to walk by the VIP room in the lounge and I saw Lisa sitting with Ken and Guillermo and Nathalie—their business partners—and my manager sitting at the table and I though to myself, 'Oh no, this isn't good,'" she explains. "I had a feeling it was about me."
Admitting that she "should have quit a long time ago so it didn't get to the place that it did," Kristen also acknowledges that Lisa and SUR provided her with a chance to thrive professionally, despite them not necessarily seeing eye-to-eye.
"I have to say, I wouldn't have any of this without her. I wouldn't have the job, I wouldn't have the show," she says. "So as much I'm not her biggest fan and vice-versa, I'm grateful for the opportunities she's given me."
And as far as her future with Vanderpump Rules is concerned? Kristen is crossing her fingers for a comeback. "At this point, we're three years in and everything that I've been through, I put my life on the line for everyone to see," she explains. "I'd want to continue the journey. I don't want to throw everything away just because I don't work at SUR."
That remains to be seen, but in the meantime Kristen is focusing on other entrepreneurial endeavors. "I have a t-shirt line I'm really excited about," she shared. "It's graphic tees, easy to wear and comfortable. It's for girls all shapes and sizes. I'm really proud of it."
It also looks like the foodie world is still going to be a part of her day-to-day routine. "I'm also going to be working on a vegetarian blog," says Kristen, who revealed last year she's been working on a memoir, too. "Not just recipes but my lifestyle too. It's nice to put my energy into positive things rather than going into SUR and dealing with all that negative energy. So really, I have to thank Lisa."
