What’s Blair Late’s Connection to Katy Perry?
How the singer helped the Newlyweds star make his teenage dream come true.
Since documenting his first year of marriage for the whole world to see on Bravo’s hit show Newlyweds: the First Year, things have been anything but tranquil for Blair Late. From stints on Extra and Entertainment Tonight to launching his own cardigan line, Blair has remained in the public eye, even managing to catch Katy Perry’s attention.
The pop star will soon be donning one of Blair’s signature pieces from his new cardigan line, Crest and Letters, which he just launched. The line was designed to bring luxury to knitted sweaters with a modern throwback to the American letterman jackets of the 1950s, a look Blair rightfully thought would be right up Katy’s alley.
"I have known Katy's stylist, Johnny Wujek, for years and love everything he has helped Katy create look-wise," Blair tells the Dish. "I figured she would be a perfect celebrity client. So, I sent them pictures and they chose what they wanted just in time for the holidays." The songstress decided on a classic black cardigan sporting the letter K. But, the good news is you don’t have to be Katy Perry to earn this letterman’s jacket.
"My best friend from college and I have been talking about creating an old school meets new school letterman cardigan line for years!" Blair says. "We finally got the guts to dive in and create this last spring and I started wearing the line during Newlyweds press tours, culminating with me wearing it on Watch What Happens Live." Now, clothing retailer Intermix has come on board and are selling his sweaters nationwide.
Blair and longtime friend and business partner, Laura Crogan, view Crest and Letters as a marriage between their two styles: Blair's preppy and classic taste and Laura's gothic and chic style. Anyone who watched Newlyweds knows this cardigan line is not a stretch for Blair. “I love all-American clothing and patriotic preppy wear, hence my rehearsal dinner theme shown on Newlyweds, Red, White and Blair!"
