Over the years, The Valley cast member and VPR alum has revealed all about changing his name to Jax Taylor.
Over the course of the last decade-plus, we've gotten to know Jax Taylor and witnessed the many changes in his life. From his time as a man about town and bartender at SUR on Vanderpump Rules to, now, sharing his life as a family man and entrepreneur on The Valley, Jax has certainly never held back the good or the bad happening in his life. And one thing that's definitely never been a secret about him is that Jax Taylor is not, in fact, his real name.
Instead, his real name is Jason Cauchi and he's shared details over the years about why he opted to change his name when he went into the entertainment industry many years ago and also why he chose Jax Taylor for his stage name.

Back in 2016, in an interview with The Daily Dish, Jax revealed the thought process behind his famous moniker, adding that he picked it for a very specific reason: "I picked Jax Taylor because, well, it's a cool f-cking name."

And while basically everyone calls him Jax today, back in Season 6 of Vanderpump Rules he did request that the reiki healer he was seeing at that time call him by his given name.
More recently, during a March 2023 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Jax offered more insight into his name change.
"I own that," he said of having two names. "I don't deny that my name is Jason. I've had this name for so long. But I don't deny it. When someone says, 'Is your real name this?' [I say,] 'Yeah'."
He then noted that the name stems back to his "modeling back in the early 2000s. It was a long. It's a whole 'nother story."
While it may be a story for another time, Brittany Cartwright, who also appeared on the WWHL episode with Jax last year, added this detail about the origin of the name: "It fits him so perfect. Taylor was his mom's maiden name."
