Vicki Gunvalson Comments on Divorce Reports
O.C. Housewife calls split "a personal matter."
Sad news out of the O.C. today. Vicki Gunvalson of The Real Housewives of Orange County has confirmed that she and her husband Donn are splitting.
TMZ first reported that the couple filed for divorce in Orange County Superior Court on Monday. They had been married for 16 years, and renewed their vows last year in Turks & Caicos (an emotional moment captured at the beginning of last season). At the time, Vicki said she hoped the ceremony would help the couple move on from a difficult time, blogging, "It's really important for all couples to renew their vows, especially when they've gone through rough times and have realized that there is no other place they'd rather be than with each other."
Vicki later confirmed the news in a statement calling for the media to respect the couple's privacy.
"Donn has been an important part of my life and he will continue to be," she wrote. "Anyone who has gone through a divorce understands that this is a personal matter and a difficult time in our lives. Therefore, we ask that you please respect our privacy at this time. I would also like to thank all of you for the outpouring of love and support that we have received."
Fans and Vicki's own castmates were surprised by the news. Alexis Bellino told RadarOnline, "This is totally unexpected, I really didn't see it coming."
