Does Lala Kent Have a “Romantic Connection” with James Kennedy? She Says…

After revealing that they secretly hooked up again when they were both in relationships, Lala clarified if she has feelings for James.

By Shannon Raphael

Lala Kent and James Kennedy may have divulged for the first time on Vanderpump Rules Season 10 that they hooked up when they were both in other relationships several years ago, but don’t expect the two to rekindle their romantic connection anytime soon.

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Peacock and the Bravo app.

During a recent chat with Rolling Stone, Lala revealed if she ever saw her close friendship with the DJ becoming something more. “I would say that we went to dinners and things like that in Season [4], but I work in two different zones. I don’t picture him as the stepfather,” Lala joked, referencing her 2-year-old daughter, Ocean Kent Emmett. “And I love Ally [Lewber, James’ girlfriend]. I think he finally has a good one.”

Lala said their hookups took place before she got sober in October 2018, and that nothing has happened between them since she stopped drinking alcohol.

“I know neither of us feel the romantic connection,” she continued. “I believe any intimacy we had was alcohol-fueled. I don’t think we ever made out sober. But we’re always gonna be homies for the rest of my life.”

As Lala mentioned, she’s had a strong friendship with James since she joined the SUR staff in Season 4. The Give Them Lala author opened up about how the two developed a “special connection” — and how she would want James to be involved in her future wedding — to Rolling Stone.

“I will never forget being new to SUR and him being the one that was very down for me,” Lala said. “He created a safe space in a world I was completely unfamiliar with.”

Lala added that she felt like she was “floundering” when she moved to Los Angeles from Salt Lake City, Utah, and that James helped her feel welcome at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant.

“He made me feel safe and respected. That created the bond that can’t be broken. And then the ups and downs. I feel our stories are pretty parallel,” Lala said. “I always say to him, ‘If I ever get married, you will be the man of honor.’”

See Lala and James reunite with the rest of the Vanderpump Rules crew when the three-part Season 10 reunion kicks off on May 24. In the meantime, find out what you can expect to see from the reunion by watching the trailer below.
