There Were Two Additional Breakups Among the Vanderpump Rules Cast on the Season 10 Finale

Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix weren’t the only Vanderpump Rules cast members to end their years-long relationship on the Season 10 finale. Instead, their split — or, more accurately, the reason for their split — served as a catalyst for two additional breakups.

A “Long-Standing Friendship”

Tom Schwartz confessed that he knew Sandoval was cheating on Ariana with Raquel several months before she found out. So when the pair came face-to-face for the first time on the finale, they obviously had a lot to hash out. As Katie Maloney explained in a confessional interview, prior to the cheating saga, “Schwartz and Ariana [had] a long-standing friendship. He even asked her to be a groomsman in our wedding.”

Schwartz, for his part, admitted to feeling “really bad” for Ariana in his own confessional. He echoed the sentiment in his conversation with her, adding, “I’m not here to advocate for him. Right now, I’m just really pissed with Sandoval. I feel like he exploited my kindness. Also, our business that we put our hearts and souls into.”

Sandoval’s Non-Apology

On that note, Ariana pointed out that Sandoval’s first public statement after the breakup included an apology to his and Schwartz’s business partners and employees — but not her. “I’m not excusing that, it’s f-cked up,” Schwartz replied. “But I think our partners are freaking out. We were all freaking out.”

“Of course they’re freaking out. Of course you are,” Ariana interjected. “Why would somebody want to give their money to that man? … What did he think was going to f-cking happen?”

Finally, Schwartz told Ariana, “I just wanted to come look you in the eyes and say I’m so f-cking sorry for this whole thing. I’m not looking for sympathy here, but I’m being painted as this co-conspirator and it’s f-cking devastating to me.”

“Look, I don’t think that you are that person,” Ariana responded, with an important caveat. “But I will not have mutual friends with him. So I’m not your friend anymore.”

Schwartz began to explain that he “was always assured” by [Sandoval] that he was “handling it [and] doing the right thing,” but Ariana cut him off to point out that she’s not an “it.” 

“I was his f-cking ride or die. [I] defended him, to you even,” Ariana continued, tearing up as she recalled how she was also willing to freeze her eggs in case she and Sandoval wanted children someday. “If he really wanted that down the road, I wanted him to be able to have that. I wish that I didn’t miss him. I really wish I didn’t miss him, but I feel like what I miss isn’t real.”

Sandoval’s Previous Denouncement of Their Friendship

Scheana Shay and Sandoval’s years-long friendship also came to an end after they had an emotional sit-down on the Season 10 finale. Sandoval began by apologizing not only for hurting Ariana but also for the things he apparently said to Scheana the night Ariana confronted Raquel — who was with Scheana in New York City at the time — about the affair. As Scheana explained in an interview, “On the phone after Watch What Happens Live, Sandoval acted like our friendship was never anything. [He] made comments like, ‘I’m not one of your best friends’ and ‘I’m basically no one to you.’”

Sandoval said he “felt really bad” about the comments before explaining that his affair with Raquel was the result of a “spiritual awakening” that came when he turned 40. 

Responded Scheana, “I’ve known you for 13, 14 years now, but I don’t know you at all, because the person I know wouldn’t do this.”

Sandoval’s Additional Cheating

The subject of “Miami Girl” came up, prompting Scheana to ask Sandoval if there were any other times he cheated on Ariana.

“There was one other time,” he said, refusing to share additional details. “It’s not fair. I’m not going into it.” 

Sandoval’s Inability to Break Up with Ariana

As he did several other times throughout the finale, Sandoval claimed he tried to break up with Ariana but it didn’t work. “How do I end a relationship?” he said, to which Scheana quickly and passionately responded, “You be a f-cking adult and you have a conversation with her.”

Sandoval argued that he was afraid Ariana wouldn’t be able to handle it, but Scheana once again shut him down. “You know what you do, Sandoval? You fly in [Ariana’s mom] Tanya, you bring over [her brother] Jeremy, and you have all her f-cking friends there ready to rally around her like we’re doing right now. You literally say, ‘I’m leaving, I’m not happy,’ and then we pick up the pieces that you f-cking left. You don’t f-ck her friend.”

The conversation concluded with Scheana telling Sandoval, “I don’t even know where to go from here. I mean, obviously we’re not friends anymore, because I can’t support anything you’ve done.”

“I’m really gonna miss you,” she concluded. “[But] right now, you don’t deserve any friends. I just can’t get behind any of this.”
