Vanderpump Rules Cast Steps Out to Support Scheana’s Unexpected Career Move
Scheana Shay and her castmates stole the show at Los Angeles’ Emo Nite.
Scheana Shay’s “Good as Gold” just received the “emo-screamo” treatment.
On Friday, July 7, the Vanderpump Rules mom stopped at Avalon Hollywood for the latest installment of Emo Nite, a touring party that celebrates some of the best pop-punk music from the past. Many fans learned about the event back in April, when Scheana and her castmates Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix took over its DJ booth following the latter’s highly publicized breakup with Tom Sandoval.

Well, it appears the trio is becoming an Emo Nite Los Angeles staple, as all three ladies returned to the event this week to enjoy another evening of dancing and throwback tunes. Scheana, Ariana, and Katie have since taken to Instagram to provide an inside look at the party, where they treated attendees to a playlist of aughties hits like My Chemical Romance’s “Helena” and The Used’s “Taste of Ink.”
Videos from the event showed the Vanderpump Rules cast members standing on the stage singing their hearts out, headbanging, and hyping the crowd with smoke machines.
Scheana unleashes new music
Later that night, Scheana took the stage to debut an updated version of “Good as Gold,” the 2013 dance track she performed on Episode 9 of Vanderpump Rules Season 2.
“I think this song is going to be huge,” she said at the time. “Like, it’s so catchy, it’s very commercial. … I want to focus on my strong points and go a little more the Kesha route.”
The latest iteration, which added guttural screams to the chorus, was assisted by The 27s, an L.A.-based music group made up of vocalist Landis Daniels and guitarist Kevin Franklin.
Scheana teased the collaboration a day before its big premiere: “I’m so excited. I’m in the studio with boys from The 27s,” the mother of one said in an Instagram Story. “Tomorrow night, if you’re coming to Emo Nite, you’re going to hear our new ‘Good as Gold’ song. We got the emo-screamo version. I’m so stoked. Oh my god, I can’t wait for y’all to hear it.”
Vanderpump Rules’ Lala Kent, James Kennedy, and Ally Lewber also stepped out to show their support for Scheana.
Scheana teases more music projects
The new track arrives nearly two months after Scheana, Ariana, and Lala recorded a “Good as Gold” remix for a subscription delivery service, and more than three years after Scheana and Lala connected on the “Like a Boss” track. Scheana discussed the 2020 collaboration during a February appearance on the Vanderpump Robs podcast, saying she was open to more Lala collaborations.
“We had so much fun doing the ‘Like a Boss’ collab that we did,” Scheana said. “We were like, you know what? We should do it again. Maybe James Kennedy does the music, maybe he writes the song for us. I just think that would be fun. So we’ve talked about it, hasn’t happened yet, but I think we might be getting back in studio in the next few months.”
