A Beloved Reality Star Makes a Dance Floor Cameo in the Dancing Queens Trailer
Val Chmerkovskiy from Dancing with the Stars will be breaking a sweat in the ballroom in Bravo's new series Dancing Queens.
We're so excited about the new series Dancing Queens — especially because you might recognize a familiar face and a big name in the dance world in the first look at the show. Val Chmerkovskiy of Dancing With the Stars fame will help coach a cast member, it seems.
The series follows six ballroom dancers as they prepare to face off against one another in competitions across the country. The women will “invest their time and money into their all-consuming passion to vie for the top spots, respect, and recognition in the world of Pro-Am dance competitions," according to a press release.
You can expect the women to spend tens of thousands of dollars on hair, makeup, and clothes, as well as the expenses of traveling with their professional partners for competitions.
The first look shows the mirror ball champ helping dancer Donie Burch through what seems like a difficult moment. Donie tells Chmerkovskiy, “I’ve never failed, so this is the first thing that I’m not super good at.”
Chmerkovskiy first appeared on Dancing with the Stars in its second season in 2006. A professional dancer, he's continued to appear on the series throughout the years, most recently appearing as Bachelorette contestant Gabby Windey's partner on Season 31 in 2022 (they made it to second place). He's won the dance show competition twice, so it makes sense that Donie would want to work with him.
It’s possible Chemerkovskiy will get pulled into the drama himself, as according to a press release, in the ballrooms, the dancers are “willing to sabotage their frenemies in the name of competition, even going as far as poaching pro partners for a chance to win.”
Dancing Queens follows Colette Marotto, Donie Burch, Gaelle Benchetrit, Leonie Biggs, Pooja Mehta, and Sabrina Strasser. From stay-at-home-moms to business owners, it’s a diverse cast of dancers.
Colette is a business owner from Scottsdale, Arizona and single mother to a son with special needs, according to her bio. Expect her to have bad blood with Pooja, as Colette's partner left her to compete with Pooja, forcing her to find a new pro and start from scratch during the series. Pooja is a makeup artist with a successful beauty business, raising two daughters. She, her mother, and her sister all dance with Colette's former pro partner.

The cast also includes New York City’s Donie who studied dance performance in college, and has been dancing her whole life. Gaelle is also from New York City and is getting back on the dance floor after giving birth to a child. New Jersey’s Leonie has a high-powered career in fashion — she is also balancing motherhood and dance. Stay-at-home mom Sabrina, meanwhile, is from Canada.
Dancing Queens premieres Tuesday, May 9 at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
