Ubah Hassan Would “Like to Go on the Record” About RHONY Feud (EXCLUSIVE)

Jessel Taank, while discussing Ubah's drama, also reminded Bravo HQwhy having an Al Capone list is so important.

Ubah Hassan of The Real Housewives of New York City is setting the record straight when it comes to a feud with one of her casymates.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New York City on Bravo Tuesdays at 9/8c and stream next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

In RHONY Season 15, Episode 10, her ongoing issues with Erin Lichy were an Ubah-hot topic, one that dates back to the RHONY Season 14 reunion when Ubah called Erin a gaslighting sh-t-stirrer. Ubah has since maintained that Erin is one for gaslighting, including at the recent pigeon-themed picnic.

But when speaking with Bravo HQ following the episode, Ubah backpedaled on her accusations.

“OK, I’d like to apologize,” Ubah told producers. “Maybe my definition of ‘gaslight’ is not point-on…”

Sitting with RHONY newcomer Racquel Chevremont, Erin denied ever being a gaslighter.

“I’ve never been a gaslighter; I’m not a gaslighter,” Erin told Bravo HQ. “I just feel like [Ubah]’s holding on to this story that I’m a gaslighter when I’m really not at all.”

Erin said that from her viewpoint, she wasn’t “changing” or “manipulating” any situation. In fact, Erin only called it as she saw it.

Per the Merriam-Webster definition, gaslighting is the “psychological manipulation of a person, usually over an extended period of time, that causes the victim to question the validity of their own thoughts, perception of reality, or memories.” It is an act of psychological abuse that “typically leads to confusion, loss of confidence and self-esteem, uncertainty of one's emotional or mental stability, and a dependency on the perpetrator.”

But in her sit-down with Bravo HQ, sitting beside Rebecca Minkoff, the Somalian model had an explanation for taking back her claims: The matter was simply lost in translation.

“To me, what I’ve learned gaslighting is, it’s when something says something to you or to someone else and comes[s] and switch[es] it, right in your face,” Ubah explained.

Erin previously accused Ubah of “gunning” for her, including during the pregnancy prank when Ubah swiftly shut down claims that Erin had secrets about the other Housewives and called Erin “a lying bitch.” Erin isn’t, however, a gaslighter, Ubah clarified in her recent interview.

“She doesn’t like that word,” Ubah continued to Bravo HQ. “So, I’d like to go on record that I apologize. I take it back. All of it. So, maybe you lied to me, maybe you take your words back, maybe you confuse things.”

Ubah said that while she misused the term “gaslighter,” she wished she knew a better word that would aptly describe her perception of Erin.

“Because it’s something,” she said. “Maybe it’s not ‘gaslight,’ but it’s something.”

Jessel Taank shares her thoughts on the Ubah-Erin drama

Twin mom Jessel Taank shared her thoughts on Ubah’s gaslighting claims as well.

“This whole thing of gaslighting is really interesting because there’s so much that’s said, and that happens, and you sort of do question what’s real and what’s not,” Jessel told Bravo HQ. “It’s hard to keep tabs on everything.”

It was precisely why, Jessel explained, she kept her notes handy, and for anyone who remembers RHONY Season 14, Jessel was referring to her now-infamous Al Capone list.

Circling back to the Ubah-Erin feud, Erin said she could let bygones be bygones … at least for now.

“She has since apologized, so I’m letting it go, and I accept her apology,” Erin told Bravo HQ. “But it just was very frustrating to constantly be called something that you are not.”
