Top Chef Masters Go Crazy... for Cronuts!
Gail, James and Curtis dish on the NYC dessert craze.
If a Top Chef Master can't get a cronut, who can? New Yorkers are still in a tizzy, waiting hours on line to get a taste of Dominque Ansel Bakery's croissant-donut hybrid. It's been copied so many times by now that everyone's had one, right? Maybe not!
Top Chef Masters' head critic Gail Simmons shamefully shared that she had old friend Dominique Ansel himself (they worked for Daniel Boulud together) set one aside, while host Curtis Stone reveals that the confections do live up to the hype... in his understated way, calling them "pretty good."
But some Top Chef Masters can't get no cronut satisfaction. In fact, some of this country's greatest culinarians haven't tried them -- or even heard of them! Top Chef Masters critic James Oseland told Bravotv.com, "I'm basically on the verge of orgasm to eat a cronut!" Whoa, James. Whoa. (If Dominique comes out with cronut holes, we can't be responsible for James Oseland's actions.)
Don't fret, James, even the legendary David Burke hasn't had one yet... he told us after remembering what they are! Lesley Suter would like one too. Actually, make that two!
Watch and find out which lucky few have had the pleasure of a cronut, and let us know below if you've had one too.
