Top Chef's Kwame Onwuachi Caps Off a Busy 2022 with Baby News
Bravo's Top Chef alum Kwame released a book, opened a restaurant, and more this year — and now he's reportedly going to be a dad.
Kwame Onwuachi, who competed on Season 13 of Bravo's Top Chef, is ready to add the title of dad to his resume, according to reports.
Elisabeth Ovesen (a creative director, writer, and former music video actress who was formerly known as Karrine Steffans) shared the news that she's expecting a baby with Kwame on Instagram this week.
She confirmed the baby news in an emotional post that described the many emotions she was feeling about learning she is pregnant, adding a message for Kwame: "Thank you, [Kwame] for the most exciting, most terrifying gift. I don’t know what comes next, but I know I can’t do it without you. I hope everyone enjoys their [New Year's Eve] plans. I’ll be in bed and off social for a bit … praying for a miracle."
While Kwame, who in addition to appearing on Top Chef as a contestant and later a judge on several occasions is also a James Beard Award-winning chef and author, has yet to comment about the news. He did, however, recently reflect on what has been a hectic 12 months for him as he continues to grow his culinary career and beyond.
"It’s been a busy year. From moving back to NYC, dropping my nail polish line, to releasing my cookbook [My America: Recipes from a Young Black Chef: A Cookbook], the second annual Family Reunion festival, partnering with [G.H.Mumm Champagne], and opening my new restaurant, Tatiana - 2022 was one for the books," he wrote. Weeks before, in mid-November, he shared a childhood photo of himself, writing, "Happy birthday young man, your dreams came true. 11/11."
