Bravo Greenlights New Culinary Competition Show Top Chef Amateurs
Gail Simmons will host the new series featuring passionate home cooks and Top Chef All Stars and winners.
There's more Top Chef on the way! Bravo is expanding the James Beard and Emmy Award-winning franchise with the greenlight of Top Chef Amateurs, the network announced on Tuesday, October 20.
Longtime Top Chef judge Gail Simmons will serve as host of Bravo's newest culinary competition, which will give talented home cooks the chance to put their skills to the test in some of the most iconic challenges from Top Chef seasons past. The new show will also feature some familiar faces to Top Chef fans, including these finalists, frontrunners, and fan favorites: Eric Adjepong, Richard Blais, Jennifer Carroll, Shirley Chung, Stephanie Cmar, Tiffany Derry, Joe Flamm, Gregory Gourdet, Melissa King, Kwame Onwuachi, Dale Talde, and Isaac Toups.
Top Chef Amateurs is produced by the Emmy Award-winning production company Magical Elves with Casey Kriley, Jo Sharon, Doneen Arquines, Hillary Olsen, Zoe Jackson, and Gayle Gawlowski serving as executive producers.
Fans can also get involved in the new series by helping to choose which of two past legendary Top Chef challenges will be featured on Top Chef Amateurs: the Seven Deadly Sins Challenge where the chefs prepare a seven-course meal reflecting the order of the seven deadly sins or the Aphrodisiac Challenge where the chefs will create menus out of indulgent ingredients considered to be aphrodisiacs. Fans can vote for their favorite challenge via Twitter @BravoTopChef by using the hashtag #TopChefSeven or #TopChefAphrodisiac from Tuesday, October 20 through Friday, October 23. The winning challenge will be announced on Monday, October 26.
Last month, it was announced that Top Chef will head to Portland, Oregon for the upcoming Season 18.
