Here's How Tinsley Mortimer and Sonja Morgan Became Friends and Roommates
"She was always someone that I looked up to," the #RHONY rookie shared of her roomie.
Sonja Morgan is no stranger to opening up her fabulous NYC townhouse to a house guest. Who could forget Luann D'Agostino's tenure as her roomie? Well after Luann left, Sonja had a spare bedroom ready for the next fabulous lady to live in. Cue Tinsley Mortimer, who was offered the chance to live with Sonja at just the right time in her life.
"I was living in Palm Beach and had a bad relationship and she reached out to me and said to get out of Palm Beach. 'You don't need to be there. Come back to New York; it's your home. It's where your friends are,'" The Real Housewives of New York City rookie shared, referencing her relationship with her ex, Domino sugar heir Alexander "Nico" Fanjul. "And she said, 'I have this big townhouse and my daughter's at school now, so come move in with me and you can live up in her room.' So I thought it was a great way to get out of Palm Beach and a good opportunity. And I always wanted to be back in New York, so I just thought it was a great time. And she's such a dear friend to offer it to me."
Tinsley and Sonja met many years prior to that offer, however, having run in similar circles on the NYC charity scene. She recalled, "I've known Sonja for about 15 years. She was always someone in New York that I knew. She's older and sort of a part of the senior boards when I was on a junior board for different charities we all worked on. So I've known her for a long time. I'd see her in Palm Beach and Southampton. And she was always someone that I looked up to and was a great friend."
