Kandi Burruss Remembers Her Late Brother Patrick Riley on What Would Have Been His 50th Birthday
"I still miss him," The Real Housewives of Atlanta hitmaker shared.
When it comes to families, Kandi Burruss has one of the best with strong matriach Mama Joyce, supportive husband Todd Tucker, and three amazing children, son Ace, daughter Riley, and stepdaughter Kaela. However, there is one person missing from Kandi's family whom she will never forget.
Kandi honored her late brother, Patrick Riley, on what would have been his 50th birthday on Thursday, October 4. The Real Housewives of Atlanta hitmaker shared several throwback photos of Patrick with herself and Mama Joyce on Instagram, which also included an incredibly sweet and moving birthday message. "Happy Birthday to my brother Patrick! He was the best big brother in the whole world," Kandi wrote in the post. "Sometimes I wonder what would he be doing if he was still here. I still miss him."
Patrick passed away when he was 22 on June 17, 1991 after getting into a car accident in Mexico. Kandi was only 15 years old at the time. "It was devastating to me," Kandi shared on Xscape Still Kickin' It, which you can watch in the clip, above.
Kandi also shared that Patrick was the mediator in her family, even helping to resolve conflicts she encountered with her Xscape bandmates. "He got along with everybody, and even when there was drama, he was able to get us all on the same page," she said on Xscape Still Kickin' It. "If my brother had not passed away, we probably would have lasted longer as a group than we did."
Kandi continues to keep the memory of her brother alive today by always paying tribute to him on his birthday and the anniversary of his death. She and Mama Joyce visited his grave on Kandi's Wedding. You can see the emotional moment, below.
