Top Chef Winner Kristen Kish Shares Pro Tips For Hosting Thanksgiving
Some Justin Bieber tunes will help you make a little holiday magic, according to the #TopChef champion.
Hosting a big Thanksgiving dinner for friends and family can be incredibly daunting as you try to make mouthwatering food, gorgeous decor, and warm company all happen on the big day. But have no fear, because Top Chef winner Kristen Kish is here to give you some last-minute tips on how to make sure everyone leaves your home happy this holiday.
One of the biggest ways you can help yourself before Thanksgiving Day is to do the majority of the cooking ahead of time, according to Kristen. "Do a little bit at a time in the days leading up to Thanksgiving. Stage as much as possible, so when your guests arrive, you are basically throwing it in the oven, finishing sauces . . . or focusing on basting your turkey," Kristen told Vogue. "It doesn’t have to be daunting. Keep it simple and tasty, clean as you go, and stay organized. Make prep lists."
Since Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, that might not be an option at this point. But even if you are forced to spend much of the party in the kitchen, Kristen reassured that you can still be an exceptional host and have a great time. "Kitchens have always been the hangout during a dinner party; I think of myself as part of the kitchen. Chatting, cooking," Kristen said.
She also recommended putting on a little Justin Bieber in the background to help you cook and get the party going. "His sh** is catchy," Kristen explained to Vogue. "I’m a sucker for a good beat."
