Terry Gives the Scoop on 'Botched' and the Human Ken Doll
The man made to look like Barbie's boyfriend assists on Drs. Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif's second season.
Plastic surgeons Paul Nassif and Terry Dubrow of E!'s Botched have seen it all…especially after encountering Rodrigo Alves.
The London flight attendant has reportedly spent more than $265,000 on surgeries to transform himself into a human Ken doll, and appeared on last season's show looking to expand on the appearance.
It was a consultation that Terry for one will never forget. "He wanted to look like Tarzan or Hercules…a skinny Hercules to build up his back so he wouldn't have to work out," he explains. "It was crazy."
Needless to say, the Botched docs did not give the doll-lookalike the green light for the procedure. But he was invited back this season to make an appearance helping another patient. "It's not gratuitous at all," Terry says. "He's extremely helpful."
Rodrigo even promoted the April 14th premiere of the popular plastic surgery show on his personal Instagram.
Rodrigo has endured 30 surgeries to achieve his look, undergoing liposuction, ab implants, box fillers, and smile widening. After cosmetic surgeons in his native U.K. started denying his requests, he sought the help of doctors elsewhere—which is how he ended up on Botched.
Paul and Terry had to regretfully decline adding him to their already impressive resume, agreeing that he just didn't fit their profile. "He looks very different," Paul explains. "He's not our aesthetic," Terry admits.
Though Rodrigo claims he never set out to intentionally mirror his appearance after the Barbie boyfriend, he admits that the excessive surgeries to change his exterior was the product of being bullied for being overweight and "misshaped." Despite others' opinions, he's finally found happiness within himself. "I am very much loved by my family by my friends and partner and I'm truly happy as just being the Rodrigo Alves," he posted on his Instagram account.
