Sutton Stracke Opens Up on the "Freedom" She Feels Following Her Divorce
RHOBH's Sutton Stracke doesn't think she would have joined the show if she was still married to Christian Stracke.
Sutton Stracke is revealing why her divorce played a major role in her decision to join the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
The diamond holder, who first joined the crew as a friend back in Season 10, split up from her husband, Christian Stracke, back in 2016. Later, after opening her clothing store The Sutton Concept, Sutton was cast on the show.
"I was divorced and not doing anything, and really had just opened my store, and it happened simultaneously," Sutton said during a recent episode of the British daytime talk series, This Morning about how she ended up on RHOBH. "So, I don't really know."
Sutton may not be fully clear as to how her RHOBH days really began, but she is pretty certain of one thing: She would not be on the show if she was still married to Christian.
"I think, had I been married, I would not be doing it. I would not have been allowed to do it," she continued. "So, the freedom came, and I said, 'Alright, I'm gonna try this and let's see what happens.' Very empowering, yes."
Why did Sutton Stracke divorce her husband, Christian Stracke?
Sutton opened up about her empowering split while appearing on Bravo's Hot Mic podcast in April 2024.
"I’ve grown up a lot and I had enough," she said about making the decision to divorce the father of her three kids, Porter, Philip, and James Stracke.
Her growth and ability to assert her "different" from how she was in the past, which can make others feel slightly "uncomfortable."
"My ex-husband feels the same way," Sutton added on the podcast.
What to expect from Sutton Stracke on RHOBH Season 14
The Georgia native is "forging her own path while healing old wounds," a press release for Season 14 teases.
"With a new sustainable capsule collection and fashion show in the works, this Southern socialite is thriving in her professional life," the release continues. "Trying to show her mother that she can stand on her own, Sutton may finally get the approval she has always longed for."
