Southern Charm's Cast Spills on Season 10: "I Would Like to Know What the F-ck Is Going On"
Hear what the Charleston crew has to say about the show's return and see exclusive pictures from the Season 10 photoshoot.
Things are heating up in Charleston. Southern Charm returns on Thursday, December 5, and it sounds like we’re in for a very dramatic season. The Daily Dish caught up with the cast while they were getting glammed up to take their Season 10 portraits, and the Charmers had plenty to tease about what’s in store.
This season – which marks a decade of Southern Charm – features returning cast members Venita Aspen, Leva Bonaparte, Craig Conover, Taylor Ann Green, Austen Kroll, Madison LeCroy, Rodrigo Reyes, Shep Rose, and Jarrett "JT" Thomas. Charleston’s grande dame Patricia Altschul and her son, Whitney Sudler-Smith are in the mix, along with new cast members Salley Carson and Molly O'Connell and Patricia’s friend, Ryan Albert.
In Shep’s opinion, the upcoming season is “one of the best ones” he’s experienced yet.
Shep Rose gets vulnerable while navigating a new relationship after his breakup with Taylor Ann Green
“Everyone’s going their own direction, and we’re all trying to figure out how to maintain a friendship, or a relationship, for that matter,” Shep teased in the aftermath of his breakup with Taylor. Spoiler: at Bravo Fan Fest, Shep noted that he has not been in contact with Taylor amid her new relationship with Gaston Rojas.
Shep has a new connection in his life, too. According to Bravo's press release, he has “fallen head-over-heels in love with the former Miss Bahamas, but the group questions if she feels the same way about him.” Only time (and as the trailer shows, Southern Charm Season 10) will reveal how things play out. In the meantime, Craig shared his take on the situation on set.
Shep was really good, at least with his relationship, about sharing it with his friends while he was trying to figure it out.”
“We get to see a side of Shep that we haven’t seen before. Shep’s vulnerability in talking about a relationship that we’ll see him have is really refreshing and interesting,” said the Sewing Down South founder. “I want to give him a lot of credit for being honest about it... People end up in awkward situations in their life. We’re all living for the first time; no one’s done this before. And sometimes you’re tempted to hold things tight to your chest until you figure ‘em out. Shep was really good, at least with his relationship, about sharing it with his friends while he was trying to figure it out.”
Taylor Ann Green and Austen Kroll are both ready for a fresh start after the drama of Season 9
Following the tense relationship dynamics of Season 9 and the trust that was broken among the group following the revelation that Taylor and Austen had hooked up, it’s clear that the group is ready to usher in a new era. Taylor is most looking forward to "[mending] and rebuilding the friendships from last year."
I’m just excited to be able to move on with my life, to be completely f-cking honest.”
Austen shared a similar sentiment, noting he’s ready to “move on” with his life.
“It’s a lighter-hearted season... Last year, for me specifically, was just hyper-focused on one thing,” he said, alluding to last season’s situation between himself, Shep, and Taylor. “I had to relive it over and over and over, and no one let me forget it the entire season. And so, I’m just excited to be able to move on with my life, to be completely f-cking honest.” In moving on, Austen opens up about his new girlfriend Audrey this season, following previous on-screen relationships with Chelsea Meissner, Madison, and Olivia Flowers.
Austen’s not the only one looking forward to what’s next. Venita teased we’ll see “a different side” of her personality this year, specifically, a “fun Venita.” Relatedly, JT shared that his “friendship with Venita” was his favorite part of an otherwise “tough season.”
Madison, on the other hand, has some reservations ahead of the premiere.
“I’m a little nervous,” she shared. “I mean, you’re gonna see a more vulnerable, emotional side of me. I want to say this is the first year that sh-t got real, for me at least.”
This is the first year that sh-t got real, for me at least.”
Leva Bonaparte believes one of her Southern Charm friends is lying in Season 10
Speaking of things getting real... Leva has some questions moving into Season 10.
“I would like to know what the f-ck is going on. Because I feel like it was a game of 17 different realities. My reality is vastly different than somebody else’s,” she said. “I would like to watch it as much as the viewers because I don’t know which one of my friends is lying.”
Although Leva believes there’s someone not telling the truth, she has a positive outlook.
I would like to know what the f-ck is going on. Because I feel like it was a game of 17 different realities.”
“It’s kind of the best thing,” she said of being able to watch the group’s lives unfold on the show. “You know when you’re in drama with your friends, and you’re like ‘I don’t really know who’s bending the truth, but like, I love them all, I know this one’s dramatic, I know that one gets triggered...’ You know, you know your friends’ stuff, so you kind of give them all grace, but you never really know what happened ... We’re friends, so I don’t think anything is super malicious. But we make mistakes, right?”
Newcomer Salley is no stranger to reality TV, but already feels that her Southern Charm experience is a totally different game than when she appeared on The Bachelor. “I feel like no one really got to see the real stuff,” she said of her first time on television. “I’m excited for people to get to know me.” Southern Hospitality fans will also remember Salley from Season 2 where she was a brief love interest to Joe Bradley, as well as Taylor's current boyfriend Gaston (before they were dating).
Fellow newbie Molly is also a familiar face among the group. “I’ve just known them for a long time,” she said. “It’s been really fun getting to kind of be on this side of their world, you know?”
We’re having a good time with our friends.”
"I’m excited for the audience to see more of my relationship with my boyfriend, Tyler, see our dogs...” shared Rodrigo. Since the photoshoot, Tyler proposed to Rodrigo, and the couple celebrated their engagement on a trip. “We’re having a good time with our friends.”
Southern Charm Season 10 premieres on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo. Episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
