Snoop Dogg’s Daughter Cori Talks Her “Amazing” Dad & "Rollercoaster" Wedding Plans (EXCLUSIVE)
The Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood: Cori and Wayne’s Story star opens up about her famous family and connection with her fiancé, Wayne Duece, as they navigate a future wedding.
When it comes to having a roadmap to follow on how to navigate the business world and fame, Cori Broadus certainly grew up with a prime example of how to do it all and not break a sweat. Her dad is multi-multi-hyphenate superstar, rapper, TV personality, and businessman, Snoop Dogg (who fans will know from his many projects as well as his Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen appearances). Their father-daughter relationship is explored on the E! show, Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood: Cori and Wayne’s Story, which follows the young entrepreneur as she plans her wedding to her fiancé, Wayne Duece.
The series gives an emotional peek inside Cori's extremely personal journey, including the joyous ups and occasional downs in her life and relationship amid the stresses of wedding planning while also working to build the brand she runs with Wayne, CHOC Factory. The show also takes fans deeper inside Cori's relationship with her parents, who are right by their kid's side through everything.
Cori Broadus on sharing engagement, business journey, and health updates
The Daily Dish recently spoke to Cori about what it's been like to put her life in the spotlight as she navigates her sometimes-complicated life in her mid 20s. "I'm an open book and I'm not afraid to share my story," she said. Cori is also quite candid about her health issues, including suffering from a stroke, and mental health struggles. She hopes her story can help anyone else out there.
She added, "It's just you start asking me questions and I'm not afraid to give you real and raw answers. And when I feel like that's why a lot of people have been gravitating towards me because I'm not afraid to share the real and tell people about what I go through in my life."
Cori is no stranger to sharing her life on TV. As a kid, she appeared on her dad's show, Snoop Dogg's Father Hood, but this series put Cori at the center and highlights how hard she's working to create her own brand and identity.
"I think it's been a roller coaster," she laughed. "Because I feel like I'm still so young, so I feel like I don't do a lot of things the way that I'm probably supposed to do and sometimes I feel stuck and I feel like I do a lot of comparing. And I know they say comparison is a thief of joy. You have to focus on your journey, your story. Sometimes things take longer than others. So I think just more so just staying in my lane and staying true to myself and doing what makes me happy. And I feel like since I've been doing that, I feel like everything is starting to unravel for me and make sense and go the way that it's supposed to be for me."
Is Cori Broadus married to Wayne Deuce?
While fans can check out Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood: Cori and Wayne’s Story to get a full look at Cori and Wayne's journey, she did confirm that she isn't sure what's next for them in terms of a wedding date, but is certain they make for a great team.
"I think no matter what, we always come to a common ground and we're willing to work together to get through the hardest moments in life. I feel like sometimes me and Wayne used to joke, like, we're like grandparents; like grandma and grandpa. We're so young. I'm 25; he's 27, and the stuff that we've been through [are] things that people have been through over, like, 10 years. And it's only been five years for us," she said. "Even the TV series, all of that was a year. Everything you've seen was a year that we've been through all of this. But one thing that I love is that we always have each other back. We're always here for each other no matter what. Whether we're on good terms, bad terms, I got his back and he got my back. And I think that's what's so beautiful is that no matter what, we have each other and we understand each other."
While they had been planning for a bigger wedding, those plans may scale down: "What is the big rush, you know what I mean? I have him and he has me and that's all that should matter. And I feel like one day, we might even pop out married."
Cori Broadus reacts to Snoop Dogg giving her $1 million for her wedding
While the wedding is currently paused, Snoop has gifted his daughter $1 million dollars for the event. "I think it was a lot of pressure," she said about her reaction to the budget. "I'm a very simple girl. Like, even the way I dress, the way I wear my hair, the way I do my makeup, I've just never been a flashy girl. I even always joke: I have designer purses but it's because of my mom. If it was up to me, I would be going to Forever 21 [and] H&M, and getting them $20 purses, which is perfectly fine for me. So I think it was just pressure from all areas: social media and some of my family members [saying], 'Well, you are Snoop Dogg's daughter. You are the princess. So if you're going to do it, you have to do it right.'"
Instead, she's approaching it like so: "Do what you want to do. Don't worry about what that person is saying, what this person is saying because they're not you."
Cori Broadus opens up about relationship with her parents: dad, Snoop Dogg, and mom, Shante Broadus
Of course, in addition to Wayne, Cori had a strong family base thanks to her famous dad, Snoop Dogg, and her mom, Shante Broadus, both of whom are featured on the show (which had its premiere air on Bravo). And while it's pretty clear that they support her through the ups and downs, she reiterated that when chatting with The Daily Dish about her bond with her parents and their unique point of view when it came to raising their kids.
"So one thing that I'll always say about my parents is they never really gave me and my siblings advice, and when I say that, I don't want to say it in a bad way. Their main thing is [they think], you got to just got to live your life and just be the best version of yourself. Because I feel like life is the best teacher. I feel like you could raise your child to be a certain way, but no matter what, they're going to grow up to be whoever they're supposed to be in life," she said. "So I feel like they were more like: do what you need to do to figure it out, but if you need a shoulder to cry on, I'm here. You could always fall back on me. That's what mommy and daddy's for. But for the most part, just be authentic to yourself. Don't be mean, be respectful, be humble, and just be a great example overall."
And, yes, Snoop is as "amazing" a parent as he is an entertainer.
"I feel like him just being who he is and having a busy schedule, I feel like he always took time," she said. "So when he does have time to be here with his family and spend time with me, it means the world to me. "Because like I said, you could be doing something else with your time, but the fact that your downtime you want to spend with your family and reach out to your daughter and make sure that she's okay, it means the world to me. So the fact that he takes the time out of his day to check on me and to be here for his family means a lot."
Snoop Dogg's daughter Cori shares family holiday traditions
Now that it's the holiday season, Cori reflected on some of the traditions her family has this time of year and how she's planning to keep things more low-key this year given how intense of a time she's had.
"So usually, every year we go out of town; whether that's Hawaii, Bora Bora," she said."But I don't know. I feel like I've been, like, not in the mood this season ... And I kind of just want to take time and just sit with myself and be here for myself. And hopefully, next year, I'll be in a better spirit and better mood. That's kind of what I'm doing for my holidays is just taking time to myself and my three babies, my dogs, and just appreciating life for what it is and just soaking in everything that has been happening for me. It's been a lot going on and I'm just so grateful to be able to talk to everyone and people want to hear my side of things and just get to know me."
Snoop’s Fatherhood: Cori and Wayne’s Story Part 3 finale airs at 10 p.m. on E!. Episodes will be available to stream on Peacock. And you can check out more from Snoop in the clip above from his recent WWHL appearance back in October where he spills all.
