Kim Cattrall Says She Was "Never Friends" with the Sex and The City Cast
The actress also thinks that the role of Samantha Jones should be recast.
Kim Cattrall isn't backing down from her feelings about a potential Sex and the City 3 film. To review — and this will be painful, for those of you still holding out for a new Sex and the City film — the actress synonymous with her character, Samantha Jones, has said that she has no interest in playing the role ever again. Sigh.
Cattrall is apparently so over playing Samantha that she even thinks someone else should step into the part. "Another actress should play it — maybe they could make it an African-American Samantha Jones or a Hispanic Samantha Jones," the actress suggested on ITV's Piers Morgan's Life Stories.
Ready to have more dreams crushed? While the on-screen chemistry between Cattrall and the rest of the SATC gang was undeniable, the actress claims it was just that: on screen.
Behind the scenes, Cattrall claims, she was “never friends” with her costars. "We’ve never been friends,” Cattrall said in newly-released footage from the Piers Morgan interview. “We’ve been colleagues and in some way, it’s a very healthy place to be.”
And, for the record: Cattrall is standing by her claims that her answer to making a third installment of the film is, and always has been, "no." Despite rumors that the actress tried to negotiate certain terms, Cattrall said: "I never asked for any money. I never asked for any projects, to be thought of as some kind of diva is absolutely ridiculous.”
