Scheana Shay Reveals the Hardest Part About Watching Her Breakup with Mike Shay

If you didn't at least tear up a little bit when Scheana Shay and Mike Shay finally decided to part ways in the Vanderpump Rules finale, you might want to check your pulse. The couple gave us one of the most heartbreaking moments in Vanderpump Rules history when they realized their marriage was really over. 

Since the moment was incredibly difficult for Vanderpump Rules fans to witness, you can only imagine how Scheana felt watching it back. "So Ariana [Madix] came over to watch the finale with me because I did not want to watch it alone," Scheana told The Daily Dish. "Ariana's amazing. She's my rock. So I had landed from Amsterdam that evening and just went straight home. She came over after work, and we watched it together and cried."

Scheana and Shay Call It Quits

But Scheana said that she felt a great deal of closure after watching the episode, too. "I was like, 'OK, that chapter is offciailly closed.' And then I remembered I have to watch the reunion still. But it was definitely emotional watching it, because [I'm] not just losing the relationship and a husband; I lost my best friend, my partner, my roommate," she shared. "Having to watch it and relive it was difficult, but I got through it and I feel stronger and happier, just in a really good place." 

In fact, you might be surprised to find out the part of the episode that really got to Scheana. "It was really tough to watch that last scene," she said. "Whoever chose the music for that though, that's what really made it emotional. I had so many people tweet at me like, 'Who's this song by?' I'm like, 'I don't know, and I don't want to know.'"

Scheana said that she avoided watching most of this season of Vanderpump Rules back because she didn't "want to relive any of that." She also said that she hopes that opening up about her marital issues in the finale, including feeling abandoned by Shay and having suspicions that he had started using drugs again, gave fans a better idea of why they decided to call it quits. "I don't think people really understood that he's the one who started all of this, and I still was willing to give him another chance and forgive him and move past this because I'm like, 'We got married for better or for worse. This is the for worse, but we have the rest of our lives to figure it out. One day it'll get better,'" Scheana explained. "And I gave him one final chance, as you saw, to tell me the truth, and he not only lied to me, he swore to God. And I'm like, 'You better say some prayers tonight.'" 

Scheana said that this season's Vanderpump Rules reunion should make her reasons for the divorce even clearer for fans. "I think the finale was just a teaser of why Shay and I broke up," she explained, adding that she thinks the reunion "will give fans even a better understanding why we chose amicably to end it."
