Scheana Shay & Lala Kent Reveal Where They Stand with VPR Friends Amid Cast Shakeup
Vanderpump Rules' Lala Kent and Scheana Shay revealed if they plan to "change" their friendships with the rest of the cast.
Now that it's been announced that Vanderpump Rules will return for Season 12 with a new set of SURvers, do Scheana Shay and Lala Kent plan to make amends with any of their former castmates?
As fans may recall, Scheana and Lala weren't on the best of terms with Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval, or Katie Maloney after Season 11 wrapped (although they were both still friendly with Tom Schwartz, Lisa Vanderpump, and James Kennedy).
"I don't think I will change anything that I have been [doing]," Scheana said on the November 29 episode of her podcast, Scheananigans, which also featured Lala as a guest. "I text Ariana here and there. I ran into Katie at a festival, but I’m not going to reach out more [or] reach out less."
Summer Moon Honey Davies' mom added, "I’m just going to continue doing what I’ve been doing because show or no show, all of these people have been in our lives for so long. So it’s like, 'When I see you, I see you. And when I don’t, I’m living my life.' I’m just going to continue on the same path I’m on and excited for new adventures."
Lala agreed with Scheana's sentiment to keep her current relationships where they are now.
"I’ve got my circle right where I want it to be," the mom of two said on the podcast. "It’s not that I for some reason am forgetting all of the bad stuff that happened. I’m sure other people have not. But I don’t think I need to reach out to anybody. I’m happy in the space that I’m in."
“It truly seems like everybody is [happy]," Lala added, noting that Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval will have a lot "to look forward to" once their bar, Schwartz & Sandy's, closes.
Lala previously opened up about her friendships with the Vanderpump Rules crew when she appeared on the November 19 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
She confirmed that she had not spoken to Ariana or Katie since the Season 11 reunion filmed, and that she wasn't exactly returning Tom Sandoval's texts.
The Give Them Lala podcast host also stated that she's close with Scheana, and she has nothing but "love" for her former boss, Lisa.
What's more, she had only positive things to say about Tom Schwartz.
"I just saw Schwartz-y the other day," Lala shared. "I am back to loving his little puppy dog nail-biting when he's nervous. I like it."
Lala Kent and Scheana Shay react to the Vanderpump Rules Season 12 news
After the news broke that Lisa would be introducing a new set of SUR employees on Vanderpump Rules Season 12, both Lala and Scheana took to their respective Instagram feeds to look back on their time on the show.
"Where to begin. I was a young girl from Salt Lake City who made her way to L.A. I would introduce myself as Lauren, but because my childhood best friend referred to me as Lala, my nickname quickly stuck," Lala began in the caption of her Instagram post.
"SUR was a place that became home. I found myself not only sipping on vodka sodas there, but behind a hostess stand... it still to this day is the most intimidating job I’ve ever had. A short time later the opportunity to be on a show called Vanderpump Rules landed in front of me," she continued. "I have such mixed feelings right now. It’s no secret I do not like change. This is the exception. I want to say thank you for rocking with us for so many years. This show changed my whole life. I’m unbelievably grateful for every moment. I’m unbelievably grateful for Bravo, for NBCU, for our crew, the entire cast, and most importantly all of you. We rocked this bitch until the wheels fell off."
Scheana, who was part of the cast since the very beginning, noted that the news marked "the end of an era and the start of something new."
"I don’t even know where to begin…. well maybe first off, thank you to everyone who’s checked in on me We had one hell of a run! I never could have imagined while shooting the pilot for VPR that it would become what it has, nor go on for as long as it did. To the fans who’ve been with us from the beginning, and to everyone who joined along the way, THANK YOU. Putting our lives out there isn’t always easy, but every time one of y'all reached out to say our stories resonated with you made it all worth it!"
She went on to thank the crew and the network, before expressing her gratitude for the opportunities she's gotten and "for the memories we've made along the way."
"We truly have worked with the best cast, crew and been part of so many special moments in each other’s lives," she concluded. "Cheers to the next chapter! The rest is still unwritten…"
