Paul Adelstein on the Scandal Series Finale: "It's a Little Bit Perfect"
Find out what the Scandal family did to say goodbye to the series.
Gladiators, grab some tissues. After seven seasons and countless jaw-dropping moments, Scandal will come to an end with its series finale airing on Thursday.
Over the past seven seasons, many amazing actors have joined the Scandal family, including Paul Adelstein. That's right, before he was having knock-down, drag-out fights with Maddie (Inbar Lavi) as the maniacal fixer Shelly Cohen on Imposters, Adelstein was putting out fires as Olivia Pope's (Kerry Washington) fellow crisis management consultant, Leo Bergen, on Scandal.
Adelstein shared how he said goodbye to the series during an interview with The Daily Dish earlier this month, and it's bound to have Scandal fans feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. "We had a farewell dinner about a month ago because it's the most generous cast and producers," he recalled. "And so they took, kind of, their special guest cast out for a big dinner. And it is really a family, and they really took care of one another."
When asked if he could spill more details on what sounds like the most magical dinner ever, Adelstein replied with a laugh, "Other than teary, funny toasts? No, I can't."
When a series has been on as long as Scandal, every episode can't always be a winner. Does Adelstein, who also appeared in two other notable Shonda Rimes series, Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, think Scandal ever jumped the shark? See what he had to say on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen earlier this month in the above video.
Seeing Scandal come to an end has been bittersweet for Adelstein. "It's sad, but I think that when you can go out on top and you can go out on your own terms, it's so exciting," Adelstein told The Daily Dish. "But it's also so great to watch them collectively decide when and how to end it. It's a little bit perfect, and it always has been. So I guess it's time to go, but it's sad to see it go. It's a fun show."
Now you can catch Adelstein as Shelly on Imposters on Thursdays at 10/9c. See him in action, below.
