The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 5 came to an end on January 15 in one of the most stunning finales so far.
After a few tumultuous months for the cast, Lisa Barlow, Heather Gay, Angie Katsanevas, Meredith Marks, Whitney Rose, Mary Cosby, Bronwyn Newport, and friend of the Housewives Britani Bateman let everything out over dinner. The conversation grew heated — and quickly.
During their last night in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Heather suggested the women symbolically "burn" the tensions between them in the form of revealing hurtful things each person had texted about another woman at the table. It was her hope that they, as a group, could then put the worst of the worst behind them, and move forward as a strong, cohesive unit.
Well, it didn't exactly work out that way. After Mary, Heather, Angie, Bronwyn, Britani, and Whitney all shared — and accepted one another's apologies — Lisa and Meredith stormed out of the dinner.
What have they all been up to since? Let's dive in to the updates shared at the end of the episode:
Angie Katsanevas is focused on her family and career
No longer being tied to the phone, Angie now has more time to spend with her her father, leaving Elektra free to roam. Her salons are busier than ever, fortunately "high body count hair" is not offered as a service.
Lisa Barlow is building her dream home
Lisa, John, and Henry have "gone the distance" this summer, traveling around the world first class ---, and can't wait until Jack returns from his mission in six months. Meanwhile, Lisa and John have plans to build a new home, but no intentions to assign bedrooms.
Meredith Marks has big business plans
Since becoming a Bat Mitzvah, Meredith has been "engaging" more with her spirituality. After selling out of her bath bombs, she is now pivoting from beauty to the world of espionage, working on a signature pink MM recording device. She will not be sharing her business plans with Whitney.
Mary Cosby is supporting her son, Robert Jr.
Mary thanks God for the help and support Robert Jr. has received, and they are taking recovery day by day. She is even more grateful that Jared [Osmond] has stopped DMing her.
Bronwyn Newport is moving forward with husband Todd
While her friendship with Lisa remains fraught, Bronwyn and Todd's relationship has grown stronger. Gwen still has no plans to meet her grandparents, and Bronwyn has no plans to host a couple's vacation, unless Todd makes the guest list.
Whitney Rose is growing her business
Whitney has finally sworn off speaking to bloggers and engaging in the rumors and nastiness. Instead, she's pouring that energy into making Prism a bigger success. She's also vowed to keep Justin out of her drama.
Heather Gay is working on her next book
Heather finished her book tour for her second book and has begun working on a third. She realized her time is better spent writing nonfiction than nasty text messages. Spoiler alert...Mormons are somewhat involved.
How the RHOSLC cast friendships have changed since Season 5
Following the Season 5 finale, the cast also had the chance to personally reflect on their season ... and where they stand as friends.
"There are some people I will always expect to have a very surface friendship with based on how they handled that discussion at the last dinner," said Bronwyn after a producer asked where the women will go from here in The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City After Show video above."I'm still hopeful. I'm very hopeful about a friendship with Heather and I. I'm hopeful Meredith and I could be closer if she was not too busy with things ... I see myself friends with Angie and [Whitney]. I adore Mary. I'd like to get to know more of a softer side of Mary."
As for her most tumultuous relationship, AKA her friendship with Lisa?
"I don't know that Lisa and I are done, but I know we're done for here," she said. "That last dinner really finalized some things for me, and if you can't show up in a space where you've agreed to be totally honest and receptive and to be willing to forgive, then I don't know where she and I go from here. I have loved Lisa a long time and I would like to continue to love Lisa for a long time. But a friendship has to be two-way. Right now, her concern for herself is so far above her concern for anyone else in this group that I don't know that anyone can have a fair, reasonable relationship with her right now. At least I certainly can't."
Whitney agreed, saying, "Me either."
Lisa's take on the situation?
"I mean, for me it's like the way it's always been," the Vida Tequila founder said. "Since like year one of all of this, relationships change organically. I have organically distanced myself from a person that says dangerous things. With their words they create bad, bad situations for people and harm good people. So for me, I'm like, I don't care who anybody's friends with. I know who my friends are. I know who I'm friends with. And organically, I have beyond distanced myself from the people who do things that are hurtful for me."
On the other hand, Meredith thinks that everyone should focus on themselves.
"If half of the group that has this tit-for-tat theory can move on and grow up and go beyond that and dig a little deeper, we can all be better. I don't worry about the next guy; I'm trying to do better each day for myself. I falter all the time, I'm not perfect by any stretch, but like — just because someone did that to me doesn't mean I'm going to do that to them," she said. "Have I done that? Yes, of course I have. We all have. But the point is I'm trying not to do that. I'm trying to be a bigger and better person as best I can."
Britani also chimed in to say she wants to clear the air with Bronwyn, Meredith, and Angie. "We have some unfinished business," she said.
At last, Heather had a take: There are always going to be ebbs and flows in their relationships.
"I would say for these women, especially last year, there was a moment of absolute trust, absolute confidence, and absolute understanding," she said. "It didn't last for long, but it lasted long enough to give me hope and faith and gratitude to each and every person."
When does the RHOSLC Season 5 reunion air?
The RHOSLC Season 5 three-part reunion begins Wednesday, January 22 at 8/7c on Bravo. Uncensored, extended reunion episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
Bronwyn has hinted at what you can expect from her first reunion appearance, sharing on a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, "I really went into it wanting to fix whatever I needed to fix and reconcile with the people I could, and I, like, kind of hit the mark on that. Not everybody and I fixed it, but some of us did."
Meanwhile, Whitney exclusively revealed to The Daily Dish that she planned on getting "the truth" about her friendships when everyone was face-to-face.
Andy Cohen also teased a "surprising remark" from Angie and calls the reunion episodes "10 out of 10."
We can't wait!
