Gizelle Bryant's Romantic History: From Marriage and Divorce to Hot Situationship
The Real Housewives of Potomac star cooked up romance with her "little tenderoni" Jason Cameron in the season premiere.
Gizelle Bryant is one of the most compelling reality stars on TV, so it’s no surprise her love life has been a hot topic of conversation over the years.
After her divorce from Jamal Bryant, The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member found romance with Winter House heartthrob Jason Cameron, and we can’t wait to see the sparks fly between the two in Season 8, which premiered on November 5.
The fabulous 53-year-old is a former model, a mother, an entrepreneur, and a philanthropist — not to mention an award-winning novelist — but her love life is always in the spotlight. Here, we look back on her prior marriage and new relationship.

The History Between Gizelle Bryant and Ex-Husband Jamal Bryant
Gizelle’s relationship with ex-husband Jamal Bryant kicked off when she was just out of school, working at the NAACP national headquarters in Baltimore. The daughter of the late civil rights activist Curtis Graves, Gizelle landed a job for then-president Kweisi Mfume. As fate would have it, Mfume also happened to hire Jamal around the same time. Gizelle and Jamal quickly bonded and still share a lifelong passion for activism despite their divorce: “So, Jamal and I have been in the trenches of trying to do civil rights and trying to make sure that we leave this world a better place," she told The Daily Dish in 2020. “I’m very proud, always, of what Jamal does especially in the Black community. He really gives his heart and soul to the community."
Gizelle Byrant and Jamal tried to make it work twice
The former couple were married from 2002 to 2009, welcoming three daughters that RHOP viewers have watched grow up through the years: twins Angel and Adore, and Grace, who just started her first year of college. Jamal was the pastor of a megachurch in Baltimore at the time they were married, and Gizelle worked alongside him until his infidelity led to their divorce. In 2019, the couple rekindled their romance, but by 2021, they had called it quits for a second time.
"Listen, we were a victim of the pandemic," she explained to E! of their second breakup. "I don't think any long-distance relationship can really withstand not seeing each other. But is he still in my life, is he still one of my best friends? Absolutely."
Although the couple didn’t work out in the long run, they are a paragon of co-parenting, recently celebrating Grace’s high school graduation together.
The Latest on Gizelle Bryant and Boyfriend Jason Cameron
After the 2021 breakup, Gizelle entered RHOP’s Season 6 as a single woman, insisting she was sticking to “casual encounters.” But before too long, she was able to find solace in actor Jason Cameron’s arms, who is 37, making him 16 years her junior. “Mama’s gotta live, you know?” Gizelle said in her confessional during the season premiere. “Mama’s been mama for a long time, but I gotta live, I got to do my thing. And I did run up on this guy named Jason. And he’s a young, hot thing. A little tenderoni.”
At Las Vegas BravoCon 2023, Gizelle elaborated on her new beau, "[Jason] is a breath of fresh air in my life, and I'm happy that we are in our situationship," she told moderator Rachel Lindsay during the “Potomac Takes Vegas" panel. "Jason is an awesome guy… I appreciate the fact that Ashley [Darby] gave me a little wingwoman assist."
Though the couple knew each other in passing, it was Ashley who set them up, asking her former fling, Summer House's Luke Gulbranson, to get Jason's number for Gizelle. The couple went on their first date in January 2023, and it’s been hot and heavy ever since.
“For whatever reason, Jason and I definitely just clicked,” Gizelle said on the premiere. “He has been keeping me quite occupied. And ‘The West Wing’ [Gizelle’s bedroom] is seeing some things it hasn’t seen in a while,” she added.
Their “situationship” seems like a dream come true in the premiere episode, as Gizelle playfully jokes with her “man-friend” (as he’s dubbed by producers) while he’s whipping up an extravagant meal for two of sushi and scallops. The couple enjoy a long-distance relationship, and Jason clearly goes the extra mile when they’re together.
