Luann spills new details about RHUGT Season 5, dubbed RHONY Legacy, including who was going into the trip single.
Shiver me timbers, Bravo fans, because we’re getting a sneak peek of what to expect in Season 5 of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, also dubbed RHONY Legacy. Of course, we’re already prepping for all the beach vibes and drama we love about the Housewives’ girls’ trips, but we also might see a familiar fan-favorite along the way.
The Real Housewives of New York City’s Luann De Lesseps and Sonja Morgan return to St. Barts for the first time on-screen since RHONY Season 5. Joining them will be fellow former RHONY ‘Wives Ramona Singer, Dorinda Medley, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, and Kristen Taekman, a sigh of relief for loyal RHONY fans since an all-new cast was announced for RHONY Season 14, premiering this summer.
The Daily Dish recently caught up with Luann and Sonja ahead of their new fish-out-of-water series, Luann & Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake, hinting at what’s to come for RHONY Legacy.

“I love the island because it’s so beautiful, and there [are] so many great restaurants and shopping,” said Luann, who hasn’t visited St. Barts since RHONY Season 5. “But most of all, I really want to be able to speak French. It’s gonna be nice to speak French.”
Who is the French-Speaking Pirate from RHONY Season 5?
Loyal RHONY fans will recall the drama that swirled around Luann possibly having an affair in 2012 while the ‘Wives vacationed in St. Barts – something Luann has long denied.
It began in Season 5, Episode 13, when the women enjoyed a night of tequila shots and dancing at a local St. Barts restaurant and bar. Later, the ‘Wives changed into pirate costumes, with the help a French-speaking Johnny Depp lookalike — whose real name is Tomas Ribeiro — the boyfriend of one of Sonja’s friends.
Luann, who was then dating Jacques Azoulay, seemingly took an immediate liking to Ribeiro, who was dressed like a pirate.
In the cold light of day, whispers began between Ramona, Heather Thomson, and Carole Radziwill that Luann partied well after everyone else and brought a French-speaking man (presumably Ribeiro) back to their accommodations. Luann initially claimed she ran into some “old Italian friends,” but the women, including Sonja, didn’t buy her story.
Later, Luann spoke French in a suspicious, off-camera phone call, telling a friend, “I don’t want the girls to know he was here with me.”
During an uncomfortable visit with the ‘Wives in Season 5, Episode 14, Ribeiro deflected questions by Ramona, joking that whoever was at the house the night before must have been his body double, who was unaccounted for a few hours the night before.
Ribeiro and Luann continued denying the hook-up during a 2020 interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
Will “The Pirate” Make an Appearance in RHONY Legacy?
A virtual appearance may be in the works!
When asked by The Daily Dish whether the pirate has reached out to Luann, Sonja joked by saying, “In more ways than one.”
“You know, the pirate has reached out to me,” Luann admitted. “He texted me, and he goes, ‘I’m sorry, so sorry, I don’t think I’ll be able to come on this girls’ trip.’”
Luann did tease, however, that Ribeiro — who changed his look and was living in Miami in 2020 — might make a small virtual appearance while the ladies were on their ultimate girls’ trip.
“I think he’s gonna do a call or something,” Luann said. “I think we’re gonna do a little FaceTime with the pirate, but I’m looking for a new pirate. I need a new pirate.”
“You never know what’s gonna happen,” said Sonja. “You never know. This time, we’re gonna have the parrot come in.”
According to Luann, she, Sonja, and Dorinda are all single.
“’Mona’s got a guy, Kelly’s got a guy, Kristen’s married, and D is single,” Luann continued. “This should be interesting.”
How to Catch Up with the Housewives
No date has been set for RHUGT: RHONY Legacy, though audiences can catch up on the first three seasons of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip on Peacock. The show’s fourth season is expected to premiere later this year.
Meanwhile, catch the Legacy ‘Wives on past seasons of The Real Housewives of New York City on the Bravo App and Peacock. Season 14, featuring newcomers Brynn Whitfield, Ubah Hassan, Sai de Silva, Jenna Lyons, Erin Lichy, and Jessel Taank, premieres Sunday, July 16 at 9/8c on Bravo.
