Milania Giudice Opens Up About Teresa and Joe Giudice’s Divorce: “My Mom Was Done”
The RHONJ kid revealed the most “annoying” part about Joe living in the Bahamas.
When Joe Giudice was released from prison in 2019, he faced deportation because he was born in Italy. After spending time in an ICE facility, Joe moved back to his home country, but he ultimately chose to relocate to the Bahamas.
Though Joe, who was married to The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa Giudice, now lives significantly closer to his four daughters — Gia, Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana Giudice — he hasn’t been able to return to the United States to witness their major milestone moments firsthand.
Milania appeared on the July 5 episode of her mom’s podcast, Namaste B$tches, and she discussed some of the difficulties she and her sisters have faced now that Joe lives a plane ride away.
Milania opens up about the challenges of living away from her dad
While it has been hard for Teresa, Milania, and her three sisters to have Joe living far away, the Giudices try to look at the positives of their situation.
“Even my dad, we just look at the bright side of everything,” Milania said on her mom’s podcast. “With him living in the Bahamas, it’s like, ‘He’s living in the Bahamas. That’s fun.’ We go there and have a good time, so, I mean, it is what it is.”
Though Milania views her visits with her dad as fun vacations, it is bittersweet for her when he isn’t able to be there for her family’s big moments in New Jersey.
“Obviously, we want our dad here for us every day,” she continued. “It sucks for the moment, like Gabriella’s graduation, Gia’s graduation, he’s not going to be there for my graduation — just like those things that are annoying.”
Teresa and Milania noted that they’ve been praying for Joe to be able to return to the United States.
“You never know,” Milania said. “I hope he comes home.”
Milania reflects on Joe Giudice’s time in prison
During Joe’s three-year sentence, Teresa and her four daughters would try to visit him as much as possible, but his facility was located in Pennsylvania.
“Me and my dad were always really close. Like, always. And we still are best friends, but I didn’t think he was never gonna come home. I just didn’t think that,” Milania said on the podcast. “With my mom, she was coming home, we visited her every single week, [her prison] wasn’t that far away. My nonna came with us.”
Milania and her sisters were in school and had activities at the time, so it was difficult to make the long drive to Joe’s prison as often.
“It was easier with my mom just because we were closer… Some weeks with my dad we would have to miss because it was three hours away, four hours away,” she continued. “It was really far.”
Milania Giudice looks back on her parents’ divorce
Teresa and Joe remained together while they served their prison sentences, but the RHONJ OG decided to file for divorce from her husband following his release in 2019. Though Milania can envision her parents still being together if Joe had been allowed to remain in the United States, she recognized that her mom was “done” in the marriage.
“They’re best friends, but they’re gone,” Milania said after comparing their dynamic to that of a brother and sister. “It didn’t happen anymore. You could tell when somebody falls out of love with somebody. We knew when my mom was done. You knew.”
Milania reiterated, “My dad will always love my mom, but you knew when my mom was done.”
The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip cast member moved on, and she married Luis “Louie” Ruelas in August 2022. Though Teresa has found a new “love, love, love,” Milania doesn’t believe that Joe will tie the knot again.
“No, never,” she said about whether she thinks her father will walk down the aisle in the future.
