In case it wasn't completely clear while watching episodes of Peacock's The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip that the vacation was a total party, well, The Real Housewives of New York City's Luann de Lesseps is here to confirm it. Luann recently chatted with Bravo Insider and spilled every detail from the trip which saw the Countess mixing it up with Cynthia Bailey, Kenya Moore, Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, Kyle Richards, and Ramona Singer.
"It was a great time. They pulled out all the stops on this trip. It was just awesome. The villa was amazing. We flew private. We had private yachts. I mean, it was pretty fabulous, I have to say," Luann shared in an interview that took place during the Season of Getting. "The Turks and Caicos is just gorgeous. So we had a beautiful backdrop. And, I just went in with no expectations. I really just wanted to get to know the ladies more. And I really had a great time. It was one of my favorite trips, I must say."
She continued, "It was a different experience because it was just different women. And I didn't really know a lot of them well. I mean, knowing people and going on vacation with people are two different things, right? So I got to know Kenya, who I didn't really know at all. And, I was pleasantly surprised. I thought she was gonna be a big drama queen and be shady, etc. And I just found her, really, a likable character. We got along very well. Kyle, I didn't really know, either. And she's just so much fun. She's really funny. And we laughed a lot together. I got to know Teresa. And we break the fourth wall on this show. So I think that's the interesting thing. And that's what makes it different. That was amazing to talk about the things that bother us, the things that we love, the things we don't like from being on the show or being a Housewife. So that was kind of cool. And I think it's what the fans have been waiting for is to bring different women from different franchises together. The fans spoke, and we delivered."
In addition to fun in the sun, antics-filled group outings, slumber parties, and party games, the women each candidly opened up about their lives, both the ups and the downs, during the trip. Being able to express her emotional experiences with the group definitely meant a lot to Luann.
"Hey, they were super supportive. They were there for me. And that felt really good. And I'd talk about [my ex-husband] Tom [D'Agostino]. And I was heartbroken. That whole thing was heartbreaking," she said. "And what happened to me in the aftermath and that embarrassment and that dating is difficult because people Google you. So it was nice to feel that they were supportive and that everybody makes mistakes. And it's how you learn from your mistakes that really matters. And so I've grown a lot. And I continue to grow. And, so, it was nice to have that support."
While the trip was all about the ladies, there was one man who really left his mark: Michael, the trip's concierge. And, yes, Luann's flirty connection with him surprised even her. "I think the amount of flirting that went on with Michael in the house, I didn't realize. But seeing it, it was like, oh, yeah, we did have a nice little flirt going, didn't we? He's such a nice guy. And I didn't even know he was married. I don't think the girls realized he was married until much later into the trip because he was so friendly. And everybody was like, 'How is his wife reacting?' And I'm like, 'You know, I don't know. But I think she had a good sense of humor,'" Luann said. "Let's put it that way."
And in true OG fashion, Luann proved she's a real legend when she took a non-alcoholic shot out of Michael's mouth. "It was water, by the way. Well, you know, he asked me kind of directly. He was like, 'Hey, Luann.' He could have picked any of the girls. But he wanted to do that with me, so I felt very honored," Luann recalled.
Still, that's not even her favorite moment. That honor goes to "riding horses in that turquoise water up to our waists," according to Luann. "I mean, that was incredible. That was a beautiful experience," she said before sharing how it compared to some iconic RHONY vacation moments. "Certainly beats out the camel. Or getting hit in the face with a volleyball."
While Luann's classic track "Money Can't Buy You Class" became the unofficial theme song for Ultimate Girls Trip (and she even memorably performs it in an episode), Luann came back from the getaway and subsequent press tour inspired by everything that went down. And, she now has a new single, "F-Bombs on the G with the OGs," to show for it.
"It's funny because I did an interview, and they were asking Kenya about the trip. And she said, 'Yeah, there were a lot of F-Bombs on the G.' And I was like, 'With the OGs.' It inspired me to write this song. And I just went through all my pictures from the trip. And I sat down with my producer, and we made this song," Luann said. "And it's really cool. It just kind of tells the story of the trip. And I talk about, you know, the Bailey-Q and doing shots and strutting our stuff from the yacht to the shore. It just kind of tells the story of this trip."
Yes, there was some drama and tension during the vacation, but Ultimate Girls Trip also really highlights the bonds these women made and focuses on the girl power aspect of their shared experience as Real Housewives. "For me, it was like old-school Housewives, the way it used to be in the beginning," Luann said. "And I think that's what people really love about it."
All episodes of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip are streaming now exclusively on Peacock.
