Peggy Sulahian Clarifies Why She's Estranged from Her Gay Brother
The #RHOC rookie opens up about her family issues on #WWHL, saying, "It's a private family affair."
The Real Housewives of Orange County rookie Peggy Sulahian is addressing gossip that she did not invite her brother to their dad's funeral because he is gay. Now the OC mom is shooting down the rumors on Monday's Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
"Absolutely not. I am not a homophobe, absolutely not. We have not spoken in twenty years," she said. "No, I am not a homophobe. I support the LGBT community. I love them. I have nothing against them and it has nothing to do with him being gay at all."
As for why she and her brother are estranged, Peggy would only add this, "It's a private family affair and that's just what it is."
Peggy recently opened up about her dad's death and how it was one of the reasons why she was so vague when it came to discussing whether or not she had been diagnosed with cancer. She later did confirm she had been diagnosed with cancer after a lump was found in her breast; Peggy then had a double mastectomy and breast reconstructive surgery.
“I was in denial, and I don’t want to sit there crying, because it hasn’t hit me yet, because I was still dealing with my dad’s death. So it’s been a mess. I was on medication. I was in pain; my face color is different, my tone is different,” Peggy shared in an interview with The Orange County Register. “You can hear me stutter, because my breasts were hurting so bad… they were expanding it and that pressure, it feels like metal in there, and I was just not a happy person.”
