What Does Paris Hilton Think of Her "Stars Are Blind" Single Today?
Get ready for more new music from the #RHOBH niece this summer.
Do you remember what you were jamming out to on your iPod (yes, iPod) back in the summer of 2006? Well, we have a hunch that Paris Hilton's debut single "Stars Are Blind" probably made its way into your Shuffle rotation.
Yes, June marked the 10-year anniversary of the release of this infectious reggae-pop track, and even though a lot has happened in Paris' life in the past decade, from hitting the big screen to launching her 20th fragrance Gold Rush last month to becoming an aunt to sister Nicky Hilton Rothschild's new baby girl, the socialite and entrepreneur told The Daily Dish that her first song still holds a special place in her heart.
"It’s such a classic and such a happy summer song. It’s just iconic and timeless," Paris told The Daily Dish earlier this summer. "So I’m so proud of that song, and I love that still today I have people coming up to me, talking about how much they love that song and the video. So it feels good to have made such a classic hit."
In fact, Paris, who began her DJ career in 2012, still incorporates "Stars Are Blind" into her sets. "At the end of almost every DJ set I’ll play it as the last song, and then I go in front of the stage and get out and dance in the DJ booth or go into the crowd and sing it, and people just freak out and love it," she said.
Paris said her passion for DJ-ing began at an early age. "I’ve always loved music. I’ve been going to raves since I was 15 years old. I’ve always been in the dance scene for most of my life," she explained. "And then when I got offered to close for Jennifer Lopez in [Brazil's Pop Music Festival in July 2012] I said yes, and I loved being onstage."
Paris hosts and guests DJs at the Pool After Dark at Harrah's Resort on May 10, 2014 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Paris went on to train with the best in the business, practicing for six hours a day to hone her craft. Now she brings her DJ sets all over the world, including a residency at Amnesia in Ibiza this summer, taking the stage every Saturday night from now until September 3, which Paris said is her "dream gig." "When I was going to Ibiza in the beginning and I would go to the foam party, I was like, 'Oh my God, imagine if this was my party, it would be so incredible.' And I was a teenager saying this," she said. "So it’s just amazing now that it’s my party every single Saturday. It’s so crazy, it’s so much fun, I’m so proud. So that was my dream gig come true, and I love it."
Paris looks like a pro at her first DJ set in the United States on October 8, 2013 in Hollywood, California.
And get your glow sticks ready, because Paris has been working on releasing two new singles this summer, which she plans on dropping at her Ibiza shows. "They’re just very fun dance songs. When I was writing them, I was just thinking about, like, my life and love and happiness and being free," Paris teased. "The lyrics are really just a lot of fun and a lot of high energy. And the drops are insane, like the music is really just dance music. People are gonna go crazy when I play these tracks."
Prepare yourself accordingly.
