7 Bravolebs Who Were Stars on the Football Field
Celebrate the NFL's 100th season by looking back at Bravo's major ties to the game.
Saying goodbye to summer is never easy, but there's at least one reason we should all be counting the seconds until fall arrives. The 100th season of the NFL (yes, that's 1-0-0) officially kicks off on Thursday, September 5. We'll see the Green Bay Packers take on the Chicago Bears in what is sure to be a heart-pounding game at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
In honor of this momentous occasion for the NFL, we've been digging deep into football's storied past. And you know what? The worlds of Bravo and football have collided way more than you probably realize.
Whether they've won Super Bowls, made their schools proud on the field, or stolen the show cheering on their beloved teams, several of your favorite Bravolebs have made a major impact on the game. Learn more about their football-filled lives before Bravo, below.
1. Kroy Biermann
When Kim Zolciak-Biermann first met her future husband, Kroy Biermann, in 2010, he was crushing it as a defensive end for the Atlanta Falcons. Kroy would continue to play for the team through the 2015 season, spending eight seasons in the NFL in total. After retiring from football, Kroy has focused on his family of six with Kim, whom he married in 2011, as well as other business ventures, which we've followed over the course of seven seasons so far on Don't Be Tardy. We're always eager to see what Kroy does next.
2. Josh Altman
Josh Altman may be one of the most successful real estate agents around these days, but back when he was attending Syracuse University, his focus was on football. The Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles agent was one of the kickers for the school's football team. The Syracuse Orange won the Big East Championship two years in a row and played in both the Orange Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl during Josh's time on the team. These days, Josh is happy to sit on the sidelines as he cheers on his beloved New England Patriots.
3. Jeff Charleston
Southern Charm New Orleans' Jeff Charleston ended up in the Big Easy as a defensive end for the New Orleans Saints. Jeff helped the team achieve victory in the 2010 Super Bowl. His six seasons in the NFL also includes time playing for the Indianapolis Colts and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring after the 2012 season. Jeff still keeps active with his new love: motorcycling.
4. Brandi Redmond
Brandi Redmond is beautiful, vivacious, and full of energy and fun. So of course The Real Housewives of Dallas mom was a cheerleader with one of the most famous squads of all time: the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Brandi cheered for the Cowboys for five years in the early 2000s, ending her career in 2005. But every once in a while she shows that she's still got spirit, yes she does.
5. Justin Reese
Jeff isn't the only football player on Southern Charm New Orleans; Justin Reese also used to played football while attending Morehouse College. He's now a successful lawyer in New Orleans, but no one can deny that Justin looks good in a football uniform.
6. Chris Samuels
Chris Samuels may seem like a doting husband and father on The Real Housewives of Potomac — and he totally is, but he's also a living football legend. Monique Samuels' hubby was kind of a big deal on the Washington Redskins, playing all 10 seasons of his NFL career as a left tackle for the team. Chris was selected to the PFWA All-Rookie Team during his inaugural season in 2000 and six Pro Bowls throughout his career. It's no wonder Chris was recently selected to be inducted into the Redskins' Ring of Fame.
Chris has continued to contribute to the football community since retiring from the game, coaching at colleges and high schools. He will begin his first season as a coach of Northwest High School's football team in Germantown, Maryland this fall.
7. Tamica Lee
Football is in Tamica Lee's DNA. Her late father, Bivian Lee, was a cornerback for the New Orleans Saints from 1971 to 1976. Tamica started performing at Saints games when she was in junior high school and then was a part of the team's cheerleading squad, the Saintsations, from 2001 to 2005. She would go on to become the Saintsations' appearance team coordinator. Tamica worked with the Saintsations in some capacity for 18 years before officially retiring in 2018. Her cheerleading experience does sometimes come in handy, as we've seen on Southern Charm New Orleans.
