Josh Altman's 'It's Your Move' Shows a "Different Side" of the L.A. Agent
The #MDLLA agent joins the Bravo book club and shares some unexpected details from his L.A. come up.
Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles' Josh Altman is sharing his motivational tactics with the world via his first book, It's Your Move. Out September 29, the title showcases Josh's skills as a closer and motivator, but it's the personal stories shared that may surprise even the most diehard MDLLA fan.
“One of the reasons why I did the book and I had fun with it [was] because I wanted people to see the different side of me," Josh told The Daily Dish. "Of course you see us closing deals and you see Heather and my relationship but you don’t know where we came from or how we got to where we are and I think that’s important." Sharing a peek at his L.A. come up, Josh explained that his initial West Coast home wasn't exactly Million Dollar Listing material. "When we moved out to L.A., my brother and I, we didn’t have two dimes to rub together. We lived in a fraternity and we weren’t even part of the fraternity. That was literally all we could afford," he said.
In addition to his first home, the agent's early business ventures weren't as successful as a majority of the deals coming through the doors of the Altman Brothers office. In the book, Josh recalls the time he thought it was a good idea to get into "the rose business" on Valentine's Day, "because of course why not buy $25,000 worth of roses, you would quadruple it, right?” Needless to say, in that market, a 30-day close would be considered a luxury. “[There were] lots of ups and downs, lots of learning experiences. I think people will have fun with the book," Josh explained. "I really put myself out there and talk about a lot of stuff that you don’t see on TV.”
But how will Josh's book compare to, say, Life of the Ramona Coaster? Test your knowledge of the Housewives' literary canon, below.
