Meghan King Edmonds Breakup Divorce

Following a tumultuous split from ex-husband Jim Edmonds, Meghan King Edmonds says she knows exactly what she wants from a future relationship. The Real Housewives of Orange County alum recently got candid about what she’s looking for (and not looking for) in a prospective partner after her divorce.

On a recent episode of Nick Viall’s Viall Files podcast, the newly single mom of three opened up about the specific qualities that she’s drawn to in a man, including “loyalty,” a “solid family upbringing,” and a good work ethic.

Meghan also specified that she’s not interested in dating any more athletes. “Been there, done that,” she said. As many RHOC fans know, Jim retired from his career as a professional baseball player in 2011.

Meghan went on to note that she has mixed feelings about the idea of dating a man with children, saying, “At the risk of sounding extremely hypocritical, I’m not really into dating a guy with kids.”

In addition to sharing three kids, twin boys Hart and Hayes and daughter Aspen, with Jim, Meghan was also a stepmom to his four children — daughters Hayley, Lauren, and Sutton and son Landon— from a previous relationship.

“I love kids and I loved being a stepmom, but it’s just a lot of baggage,” she said on the podcast. “And I hate to call kids baggage, but kids are a lifelong commitment and you didn’t have any input into creating this child and it’s just hard. I’ve been a stepmom — it’s difficult.”

She went on to add, “If I were to go into [a] relationship and be a stepmom, it’s hard. I know it’s hard. But on the flip side, a man with children understands what I’m going through, ’cause he has children.”

Meghan and Jim separated in October after five years of marriage. Their split has become increasingly contentious in recent weeks, following Meghan’s claims that Jim is now dating someone who the former couple once had a threesome with.

The former baseball player responded to Meghan’s accusations earlier this month, with a statement that read in part, “I am tired of the lies for publicity. I filed for divorce over 90 days ago. Meghan has filed as well. The marriage is and has been over.”
